Robotics Assembly & Electrical Integration Technician
Origami Robotics is building the dexterous layer for physical AI. We're backed by Y Combinator and working with leading robotics labs. We need a hands-on technician to join our hardware team and help us build, test, and ship robot hardwares. This is not a "sit at a desk and run simulations" role. You'll be physically assembling robotic hands, soldering PCBs, debugging motor systems, and making sure every unit we ship meets spec. If you love working with your hands and get excited about motors, wiring harnesses, and making things actually work — this is your job. What You'll DoAssemble and integrate dexterous robotic hands — motors, PCBs, wiring, mechanical componentsSolder, rework, and debug electrical systems at the board levelRun electrical and functional tests on assembled units; diagnose and resolve failuresMaintain and calibrate assembly equipment and test rigsPerform quality assurance checks to keep product standards highSupport the hardware design team with prototype builds and design feedbackDocument assembly procedures, test results, and failure modesWhat We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related field (recent grads welcome!)Hands-on experience with soldering (SMD and through-hole), electrical system debug, and motor systemsFamiliarity with communication protocols: CAN, I2C, SPIComfortable reading schematics and working with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and bench power suppliesStrong mechanical intuition — you've built things with your hands, not just on a screenProblem solver who can work independently and move fast in a startup environmentMust be available to start immediately and work on-site in Millbrae, CA and later to SF.Nice to HaveExperience with brushless motors / motor drivers3D printing and basic CAD knowledgeExposure to robotic hand or manipulator assemblyFamiliarity with embedded systems (Arduino, STM32, ESP32)Why OrigamiYC-backed, working with top robotics labsSmall team — your work ships directly into the hands of researchers and customersGet in early at a company building the hardware layer for physical AI
