Come join our team!Recycling Sorters work as quality control line workers by hand sorting recyclable materials and trash from the recycling stream. Sorters are responsible to ensure unacceptable materials are removed from recycling so that recyclable materials are acceptable for sale to mills or brokers.Shift: 6:00am - 8:00pm M-FResponsibilities of Position:Perform sorting duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policiesUtilize proper PPE and comply with Lock Out Tag Out procedures consistentlyInspect materials and sort items or materials into designated areas according to type, size, condition, color, or paper gradePull contaminants out of paper or off of floorPerform cleaning duties related to plant equipment and general housekeepingReport system problems immediately to managementMaintain a clean and orderly work area and surrounding areaDump boxes and containers of material into designated area(s)Perform other duties as assignedSupervisory Responsibility:This position will not manage employeesSkills & Abilities Needed for Position:Ability to distinguish between various recyclable materialsSelf-starter, aggressive work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervisionAbility to understand and comply with safety protocolsGood verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with other personnel and managementPhysical Requirements in a Regular Workday:Continuously lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 10 lbsFrequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbsRarely lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbsFrequently working outsideContinuously working in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditionsContinuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matterOccasionally stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawlingRarely climbing and/or balancingRarely sittingContinuously standingFrequently walkingAdditional Working Conditions/Aspects:Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areasExposure to residential and commercial wasteAbility to work flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as neededAbility to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidaysLegally eligible to work in the United StatesValid driver’s license (if applicable)Must successfully complete pre-employment testingMust be able to read and speak the English languageThis job description is intended to describe the general nature, complexity, and level of work to be performed by employees assigned to this position and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required.
