Staff Software Engineer

Overview As a Staff Software Engineer at Circle, you will extend our blockchain systems to enable global tokenization and value transfer across crypto and traditional banking protocols. You will own scalable microservices and secure APIs that connect diverse blockchains with financial rails, collaborating closely with Product and Engineering to shape high-quality system design and standards. You’ll troubleshoot complex issues and deliver developer-friendly interfaces that simplify integration with Circle’s payment infrastructure. ResponsibilitiesExtend in-house blockchain infrastructure to support tokenization and cross-protocol value transferBuild and own scalable microservices and secure APIs for blockchain and banking integrationsCollaborate with Product and Engineering to design, test, and document system principles and quality standardsTroubleshoot and restore systems to ensure reliable payment experiencesDevelop publicly accessible APIs to streamline developer integrationsIntegrate Platform Services with banks and fintechsDefine data sources, messaging systems, and API designs for production-grade softwareMentor and lead architecture and design decisions for the team Key requirements7+ years of professional software development experience in Go or JavaComputer Science degree or closely related fieldTechnical leadership of teams >4 in architecture and system designExpertise in API design, payments processing, or blockchainsStrong knowledge of scalable software production lifecycle and deploymentExperience with Web3, blockchain, and smart contract logicRESTful API design and development principlesCloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure)Container orchestration (Kubernetes, EKS, ECS)SQL databases and schema designStrong emphasis on code quality and test coverageExcellent communication and collaboration with remote teamsSelf-starter with fast-paced delivery mindsetclear communicationcollaborationproactive problem-solvingGoJavaAPI design
