This is a high-impact role where your technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and initiative will directly shape the reliability, scalability, and security of our systems.If you are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference while working alongside a dependable and skilled team.What You'll DoIn this role, you will play a critical part in designing, managing, securing, and optimizing Colville's IT environment across multiple locations. Your responsibilities will include:Managing user accounts and access across enterprise systems including Microsoft, Oracle, SAGE, Eagle POS, and EpicorSupporting and maintaining operating systems and core application environmentsInstalling, configuring, and optimizing servers, backups, switches, access points, and firewallsMonitoring and maintaining enterprise systems across network, endpoint, and cloud environmentsManaging hardware and software licensing and ensuring complianceProviding escalated support and assisting with help desk triage as neededIdentifying, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity threats using tools such as SIEM, EDR/XDR, NAC, and IDPSApplying and coordinating security patches while minimizing operational impactSupporting backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planningTroubleshooting and maintaining network infrastructure including firewalls and VPNsManaging and supporting networked storage systemsCollaborating with vendors and internal teams to support operational needsEvaluating and implementing new technologies to improve system performance, scalability, and securityTraveling occasionally to Colville locations including Anchorage, Fairbanks, Prudhoe Bay, and ValdezPerforms other related duties as assigned to support business operations.What You BringWe are looking for an experienced IT professional with strong engineering fundamentals and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset:Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Required)5+ years of experience in systems administration or IT engineering roles solving complex technical challengesStrong experience with virtual environments and cloud infrastructureHands-on experience with Windows-based environments, Epicor, and Oracle systemsFamiliarity with infrastructure hardware such as servers, UPS systems, and Fortinet devicesWorking knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and configurationExperience managing and troubleshooting storage systemsStrong ability to analyze problems and implement effective, scalable solutions aligned with best practicesExperience supporting enterprise IT environments and diverse user groupsExcellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams and locationsStrong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple prioritiesExperience with scripting, version control, and documentation of technical workAbility to work independently and take initiative in a fast-paced environmentProfessional, team-oriented approach with a focus on reliability and accountabilityPreferred QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, and Windows Server administrationMicrosoft certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, or Microsoft 365 Certified AdministratorWhy Colville?At Colville, we operate in some of the most unique and demanding environments in Alaska, and our success depends on the strength of our people.
