Job Overview
Strategic Technology Institute, Inc. (STi) is seeking an experienced Senior Technical Support Specialist to join our team supporting U.S. Navy shipboard operations, sonar systems, and signature measurement systems - for a contract we expect to acquire with NAVSEA's Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in at-sea measurement trials, data acquisition, analysis, and technical reporting. This role is critical in providing scientific, engineering, and technical support services for Navy and Ship Signatures Programs, contributing to the operational superiority of naval fleets.
This position is contingent on contract award.
Key Responsibilities
At-Sea Measurement Trials:
Participate in and support at-sea measurement trials for submarine and surface ship signature assessments.
Develop and update submarine operational data gathering procedures for programs like TUBA and other signature measurement systems.
Assist in the creation of acoustical sea trial plans and agendas.
Technical Support & Systems Integration:
Provide operational support for at-sea and shore-based processing systems.
Engage in system integration tasks, ensuring seamless operation of complex data acquisition and signature processing systems.
Perform signal path analysis involving stationary, mobile, onboard, and at-sea systems.
System Development & Maintenance:
Contribute to the engineering, development, modification, installation, analysis, and operation of shipboard, autonomous, portable, or fixed data acquisition systems.
Support the development, upgrade, and certification processes of acoustic recording systems.
Evaluate and implement Information Assurance (IA) measures for systems.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Acquire, reduce, and analyze signature measurement data.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports and Department of Defense (DoD) technical documentation.
Manage system life cycle, logistics, and configuration support.
Training & Documentation:
Develop interactive training courseware and operational system documentation.
Provide guidance and training to team members on system operations and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Math, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, or other STEM fields. OR - eight (8) years of additional U.S. Naval fleet service with operation experience in at-sea measurement trials.
- Technical Experience: A total of 8 years of collective technical experience with U.S. Navy shipboard operations, sonar systems, and signature measurement systems in R&D, data acquisition, reduction, analysis, calibrations, calibration processing, and technical reporting.
- Certification: System integration experience is required. Must possess an IAT Level II certification as outlined in the Cyber Security Workforce Requirements Matrix.
- Security Clearance: Active Secret Clearance *required
Desired Qualifications
- Technical Expertise: At least 8 years of collective technical experience in U.S. Navy acoustic trials and acoustic signature measurement systems.
- Proficiency in at least six (6) of the following areas:
Development and update of submarine at-sea operational data gathering procedures for TUBA or other signature measurement systems.
Engineering, development, modification, installation, analysis, or operation of signature measurement systems.
Operational support for at-sea and shore-based processing systems.
Signal path analysis of complex data acquisition and signature processing systems.
Preparation of DoD technical documentation.
Planning, evaluation, data analysis, and documentation of ship signature and signature system trials.
Development, upgrade, and certification processes of acoustic recording systems.
Testing, evaluation, and validation methodologies for acoustic recording systems.
Knowledge of submarine acoustic sensors and signal paths.
Evaluation, implementation, and maintenance of System Information Assurance (IA).
Support for system life cycle, logistics, and configuration management.
Development of interactive training courseware and operational system documentation.
