(ELR) Specialist
Job Summary (List Format) Serve as an Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) Specialist within the Surveillance Systems and Informatics (SSI) Program at the Tennessee Department of Health. Support and manage ELR onboarding processes using HL7 2.5.1 standards. Provide input and manage production monitoring tasks (alerts, dashboard development, maintenance, and issue identification). Independently investigate ELR processing issues and propose solutions. Collaborate with Rhapsody developers to enhance or define new ELR processing routes. Assist in processing laboratory data submitted through alternate file formats (e.g., flat files). Coordinate routine and ad hoc management of standard interoperability vocabulary in the disease surveillance system. Act as a liaison to downstream users of ELR data within TDH and CEDEP. Support ELR maintenance tasks (parallel validation, LOINC code assignments, handling production errors). Gain exposure to and experience in the use and development of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7) and system integration projects. May participate in supporting other SSI informatics projects and initiatives (such as REDCap).Desired Qualifications 1-3 years of work experience with ELR onboarding and/or maintenance at a state or local health department. 1-3 years of experience with Rhapsody or defining specifications for Rhapsody developers. Experience writing statistical and analytical programming code (SAS, SQL, or R). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Project management experience.
