Lead Tech Project Mgr
Job Summary:The Lead Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering complex software development projects working with teams across multiple disciplines in a geographically dispersed organization, including working with vendors. The Lead Technical Project Manager will concurrently manage multiple medium to large digital projects across web and mobile applications, and/or one or more specific tracks within much larger scale programs, with oversight from a Program Manager. The Technical Project Manager ensures on-time and on-schedule delivery for their projects working closely with Product, Technology, and Design.What You Will Do:Project EstimationFacilitate scope definition, and high-level planning, discovery, and estimation workshops for projects with cross-functional teamsQuantify cost factors to deliver project deliverables including resources, project oversight, objective risk and related contingencyDocument key assumptions and dependencies established through estimation activitiesPrepare and present high-level plan with estimates for executives and cross-functional leaders based on estimate outcomesProject PlanningCreate project schedule and communication plansEnsure proactive scheduling of key deliverables, milestones and deliverable tasksEstablish project financial forecasts including resource plans and other expense plansDevelop the project plan and schedule with cross discipline functional leadsEnsure necessary steps and dependencies to deliver projects and components are establishedValidate that scope can be completed within timeline and budgetEstimate resource needs with help from functional leadsProject DeliveryConfidently lead and drive cross-functional projects, and individual project tracks of large programs through full delivery life-cycle ensuring project is delivered on-time and on-budgetManage resource assignment, budget, scheduling, and scope prioritization, and change controlWork with cross discipline team members to validate project assumptions and review project plans with leadershipEnsure proper documentation of scope of work with help from cross discipline functional leadsServe as primary liaison among multiple teams, including Product Management, Design, Technology, vendors and other key functional delivery teams for the project (when appropriate)Communicate regular updates to project and executive leadership team on delivery progress, plan updates and budget spend and forecast, including status report updates, financial/budget/variance reports, and other reporting as requiredMonitor adherence to schedule and milestone commitmentsEscalate key issues and risks to ensure timely resolution and mitigationPrevent scope creep, record causes of change, and facilitate change requests to ensure impacts to schedule or budget, as well as forecasts, are approved and communicated in a timely mannerUse metrics, including burn-down charts, to drive performance, efficiency and forecast improvementsEnsure proper project closure including retroactives/lessons learned, transition and hand-off to production operations support, and final financial reportingQualifications:Minimum of 7 years of related work experience.Strong project leader with experience in leading large, multidisciplinary digital teams (preferably websites, mobile web, and apps)Agile delivery experienceMobile application (iOS, Android) delivery experienceExperience in a matrixed responsibility organization working with multiple Product Managers per effortStrong experience facilitating the gathering and development of requirements for complex solutionsPossesses significant practical experience in the basics of project management (estimation, project planning, resource planning, issue management, risk management, change management, communication planning).Experienced in multiple full lifecycle software deliveries from business development to final software acceptanceLed teams with multiple discipline represented (including product management/strategy, technology, design, SEO, and analytics)Proven accomplishment as a driver of multiple projects running concurrently Proven track record managing individual project budgets and budget roll-up of multiple projectsDemonstrated analysis/assessment capabilitiesAble to confidently lead teams to a successful delivery approachAble to work both collaboratively and independently while maintaining a high level of productivityAble to work under tight timetables and high pressure situationsThrive in a fast-paced environment and able to juggle, shift gears, and maintain a sense of humor; deliver under extreme deadlines and intense business environmentMust possess excellent business communication, writing, and interpersonal skillsProactive and solution-oriented when managing issuesComfortable when communicating with executive level (Directors, VPs) in presentations, working sessions, and 1-on-1 interactionsPracticed in negotiating with others in ways that result in win/win agreements and outcomesMust be open to coaching and guidanceExhibit good judgment skills on when to seek guidance and when to escalate risks and issuesEducation:Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent work experienceThe hiring range for this position in Orlando, FL is $148,300 to $198,800 per year, in Burbank, CA is $155,700 to $208,700 per year and in Seattle, WA is $163,100 to $218,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
