Position OverviewCybersecurity Intern (Secret Clearance Required)JHNA is seeking a motivated Cybersecurity Intern currently pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity or a related field. This role is designed for a junior-level student with an active Secret clearance who is interested in hands-on experience with modern security tools and operations.The intern will support security operations by working with Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Sentinel, assisting in vulnerability management, and helping analyze and respond to security alerts.Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Monitoring & AnalysisMonitor security alerts and incidents using Microsoft Defender and Microsoft SentinelReview and triage alerts to identify potential threats or false positivesSupport investigation of suspicious activity and document findingsVulnerability ManagementHelp identify, track, and prioritize system vulnerabilitiesAssist with remediation efforts and validation of fixesMaintain vulnerability tracking documentation and reportingSecurity Operations SupportAssist in developing and improving detection rules and alertsSupport log analysis and correlation across multiple data sourcesDocumentation & ReportingDocument procedures, findings, and incident response actionsAssist in creating reports for internal stakeholdersMaintain clear and accurate records of security activitiesLearning & DevelopmentGain hands-on experience with:Microsoft Defender for EndpointMicrosoft Sentinel (SIEM/SOAR)Security incident response processesParticipate in training and mentorship opportunitiesWhat The Intern Will GainHands-on experience with enterprise security toolsExposure to real-world threat detection and responseUnderstanding of vulnerability management lifecycleExperience working in a compliance-driven environmentWork EnvironmentExposure to real-world security operations in a controlled environmentOpportunity to contribute to meaningful security initiativesAdditional Position DetailsInternship (Summer Part Time)Location: [Huntsville, AL / Remote]Clearance: Active Secret requiredRequired QualificationsCurrently enrolled as a Junior in a Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related degree programActive Secret Clearance (required)Basic understanding of:Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)Operating systems (Windows preferred)Cybersecurity principles (threats, vulnerabilities, risk)Preferred QualificationsBasic scripting knowledge (PowerShell or Python)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
