IT Network Sr. Engineer
Job SummaryThe IT Network engineer is part of a technical network services team providing operational support and design/deployment of IT network infrastructure services, delivering a highly available, secure, well-performing, scalable, optimized, and cost-effective infrastructure platform for the company’s IT services.This role is primarily project focused, leading the network workstream from requirements gathering through implementation and go-live. Projects are primarily US-based but could extend to international locations where required. The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of LAN/WAN and wireless technologies, having demonstrated experience in end-to-end design, deployment, and post-deployment validation.The role requires a strong independent mindset, acting as the Network Services representative within cross functional infrastructure and site deployment projects. The successful candidate should demonstrate the soft skills required to confidently drive the network workstream, respond to project challenges, and ensure consistent presence throughout the project process. Contribution to support and engineering on behalf of the wider Infrastructure function will also be expected where project commitments allow.Job ResponsibilitiesProject Delivery & OwnershipLead the network workstream within site deployments and infrastructure projects primarily in the US region, with international support where required.Gather and translate business and operational requirements into practical network designs in collaboration with the Network Architect.Produce high-level and low-level LAN designs, including wireless, MDF and IDF placement. Develop implementation plans and coordinate infrastructure installation activities.Deliver network deployments remotely and on site across implementation, go live, and post go live support phases.Validate completed deployments against established design standardsProduce accurate post-implementation documentation and complete structured support handovers.Network Design & EngineeringDesign and deploy LAN/WLAN solutions primarily using UniFi (Ubiquiti) and CATO technologies.Collaborate with internal and external partners on warehouse and corporate wireless deployments.Capture customer network access requirements and deliver project related firewall, VPN, and connectivity changes in line with security standards. Partner with wider infrastructure team to ensure new deployments are aligned with global monitoring toolsets and standards.Maintain and evolve standardised deployment templates.Stakeholder & Vendor EngagementRepresent Network Services on project meetings. Coordinate with internal teams and external delivery partners to support site and infrastructure deployments (telecom vendors, installation partners, managed service providers, etc.)Manage the full lifecycle of telecoms circuits including selection, ordering and installationEnsure network deliverables align with overall project milestones.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum 5 years’ experience in Network Engineering.CCNP certification required.Strong understanding of networking fundamentals with an emphasis on LAN and wirelessDemonstrated experience of designing and implementing LAN environments.Thorough understanding and demonstrated experience of wireless deployments (warehouse or multi-site environments preferred) including knowledge of bands, channels, gain, TX/RX.Thorough understanding of DNS, DHCP, and NTP, including demonstrated experience of configuring scope options, forward and conditional lookup zones.Experience troubleshooting complex network problems, and knowledge of tools such as Syslog and Wireshark.Experience with managing and maintaining firewall rulesets, including understanding of stateful and stateless firewalls, asymmetric routing, security best practices, and security testing metodlogies.Wide knowledge of SMNP and other network monitoring protocols, including experience with Solarwinds, Netflow, Zabbix, or Observium.
