Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the social service programs of the facility Interviews residents or family members as necessary to obtain social history Provides information to resident/families as to Medicare/Medicaid and other financial assistance programs available to the resident Refers resident/families to appropriate social service agencies when the facility does not provide the services or needs of the resident Assists in standardizing the methods in which work will be accomplished; collaborates with staff and other departments to develop workflow efficiencies and streamline business practices to reduce costs and eliminate waste Develops and maintains a community and social services referral file of agencies and organizations that provide assistance to residents Interprets the department’s policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc. Keeps abreast of current federal and state regulations as well as professional standards and makes recommendations in changes in facility policies and procedures to the Administrator All other duties as assigned Director of Social Services Skills and Abilities:Proven strong management skills, including delegating responsibility to subordinates, performance management, conflict management, and leading through others. Must have good financial and management skills. Ability to plan and adapt policies and procedures relating to social services Strong organizational skills. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications; proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Director of Social Services Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in social work or a human services field including sociology, gerontology, special education, rehabilitation counseling, psychology, etc. requiredMaster of Social work (MSW) or related field preferred Possess a current license to practice in the State as a Social Services Professional. Physical Requirements: Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required. Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
