The program emphasizes the application of theoretical knowledge and skills acquired during graduate training to diverse, real-world educational settings. Central to our philosophy is the continuous development of professional knowledge, advanced skills, and ethical practice throughout the internship year.Qualifications:Currently enrolled in a School Psychology graduate programEligible for School Psychology Internship placementDemonstrates organizational skills, flexibility, and collaborationKnowledge of MTTS and problem solvingProfessional Framework:CUSD 200 aligns its practice with the NASP Practice Model, ensuring that interns gain experience across the 10 NASP domains of practice. School psychologists within the district maintain diverse, multifaceted roles and benefit from favorable student-to-psychologist ratios, allowing for meaningful engagement in direct student services. This balanced model ensures interns receive a comprehensive, equitable, and authentic professional experience.Placement:Interns will be primarily placed at either the Elementary or High School level, based on expressed interest. To ensure a well-rounded experience, each intern will also complete a 20-day rotation at the opposite school level.CUSD 200 offers the full continuum of general and special education programs, providing interns with a rare and valuable opportunity to gain experience working with students across a wide spectrum of needs. To view the CUSD 200 Special Education programming click here.Responsibilities:Participation in the MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Supports) process and data-based problem solvingComprehensive psychoeducational assessmentsDirect interventions, including individual and group counselingConsultation and collaboration with teachers, parents, and related service providersProfessional development opportunities, including access to district-wide CUSD 200 training sessionsOngoing supervision and feedbackSupervision and Support:Each intern will be assigned a highly qualified, licensed school psychologist as a primary supervisor, who will coordinate directly with the intern's university program.Supervisors are selected based on their knowledge, experience, and interpersonal strengths.Interns will also receive supervision from an additional school psychologist at the alternate placement level.Interns participate in monthly department meetings with our district-wide team of over 30 school psychologists, fostering professional networking, collaboration, and exposure to district initiatives.
