Database Administrator (US Citizen / Active Secret / Jr DBA (1-3 Years) / Mid DBA (3-7 Years)The Database Administrator, oversees the stability, performance, and security of enterprise databases that support mission‑critical systems in a highly regulated government environment. The role designs and refines database structures, indexing strategies, and capacity plans to deliver scalable, high‑performing data services across multiple business applications. It leads complex maintenance activities such as patching, upgrades, environment migrations, and recovery exercises while minimizing downtime and coordinating closely with development, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teamsKey Responsibilities Administer and optimize production and non‑production instances of platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, including advanced schema design, partitioning strategies, and environment‑specific configuration.Perform capacity planning and storage management, including growth forecasting, index maintenance strategies, and archival approaches to balance performance and cost.Troubleshoot complex incidents involving locking, deadlocks, blocking chains, failed jobs, and resource contention, using diagnostic tools and system views to quickly isolate root cause.Administer, develop, test, or demonstrate databases.Perform many related database functions across one or more teams or clients. designing, implementing and maintaining new databases. backup/recovery and configuration management.Install database management systems (DBMS). provide input for modification of procedures and documentation used for problem resolution and day-to-day maintenance.Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.1-7 Years relational database systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, including deep knowledge of database structures, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.Experience with database security, backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, high‑availability configurations, data warehousing, ETL processes, and data integration tools.Strong analytical, problem‑solving, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.U.S. citizenship and willingness to travel less than 10% of the time.Active Secret Clearance or within 24 months. (**Falsely claiming a DoD clearance can lead to serious legal consequences, including criminal charges under 18 U.S. Code § 1001**)Preferred Qualifications Experience with any of the following is desirable: Toad, Spotlight, OEM, and Statspack. Significant experience in Oracle/SQL/MySQL database administrationSome SQL Plus and Unix Korn scripting fluency and RMAN preferred.Experience with Oracle Database and Apps Administration 8, 9, 10g or higher.Common Knowledge of DB support tools such as Quest Foglight, etc.Advanced knowledge of security network and infrastructure tools, including access control and/or encryption.In depth knowledge of troubleshooting skills and out of the box thinking to overcome data obstacles.Ability to delegate/split tasks among a team.
