Denver, CO.DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Mining & Geotechnical Geologist will play a central role in integrating geologic, geotechnical, and spatial datasets to support project evaluation, development planning, and business decisions. The position requires strong GIS capability and applied experience using industry-standard geological and spatial software. The successful candidate will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams including operations, engineering, land, regulatory, and business development.We value curiosity, technical rigor, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This role is well-suited for a hands-on geologist who thrives in data-driven environments and enjoys translating subsurface understanding into practical, decision-ready insights.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPerform geologic and geotechnical evaluations to support mining, solution mining, and subsurface infrastructure projectsIntegrate surface and subsurface data to develop geological models, cross-sections, structure maps, and geotechnical interpretationsConduct applied geotechnical assessments including stratigraphy, structure, lithologic variability, and rock mass characterizationSupport directional drilling and well planning activities where applicable, including target selection, trajectory considerations, and post-drill evaluationsBuild, maintain, and interpret GIS-based datasets and maps to support project planning, land evaluation, infrastructure routing, and risk assessmentDevelop and maintain regional and site-scale geologic and infrastructure maps, including surface facilities, rights-of-way, and subsurface constraintsAnalyze and synthesize large, multi-source datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to mining and subsurface developmentCollaborate with engineering and operations teams to support development planning, execution, and post-project evaluationsContribute to technical due diligence and internal studies supporting project development, acquisitions, or strategic initiativesResearch industry activity, regulatory data, and public datasets to inform technical and business recommendationsPrepare clear, concise technical deliverables including maps, figures, and written summaries for internal stakeholdersWork effectively within integrated, cross-functional teams and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvementMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS3–5 years of applied professional experience in geology, mining geology, geotechnical geology, or closely related fieldsBachelor's degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Earth Science, or a related disciplineDemonstrated applied experience with GIS software (ArcGIS required)Strong working knowledge of subsurface data interpretation, stratigraphy, and structural geologyExperience integrating geological data into practical development or operational decisionsAbility to manage and analyze large datasets with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detailPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience supporting mining operations, solution mining, or subsurface resource development projectsPrior oil and gas experience as it relates to directional drilling, operations geology, or geotechnical evaluationFamiliarity with geomechanical concepts and their application to drilling, excavation, or subsurface stabilityExperience working in regulated environments and supporting permitting or compliance-related technical workSPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIESProficiency in GIS platforms (ArcGIS) and spatial data managementExperience with geological interpretation and mapping software (e.g., Petra, Kingdom, Geographix, Leapfrog, or similar)Strong understanding of stratigraphy, sedimentology, structural geology, and applied geotechnical principlesAbility to integrate surface, subsurface, and spatial datasets into coherent geological interpretationsCompetence in Microsoft Office and data visualization toolsStrong written and verbal communication skillsSelf-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable with a strong team-oriented mindsetDemonstrated ability to think critically, solve problems, and contribute innovative ideasWORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS & TRAVELWork is typically performed indoors in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Salary commensurate with experience and skill set.
