The Marketing and Communications team of the Oregon State University Foundation creates experiences, tells stories and builds communities that inspire alumni and friends to join OSU in making the world a better place and feel appreciated for the difference they make through partnerships with the university. Reporting to the Digital Marketing Specialist, the Social Media Student Assistant works with colleagues to execute social media strategies to advance our goals for engaging alumni and friends of the university and increasing visibility and brand recognition for the OSU Foundation, the OSU Alumni Association and our partners across the university. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Professionalism, and Technology.Position DutiesWork with diverse teams to implement social media marketing plans Pitch creative and trending ideas for social media that increase engagement, reach, followers and impressions Assist with analytics reviews to assess success and recommend improvements for future ads and posts With oversight, schedule posts, publish content, and review/respond to comments and activity With oversight, update editorial calendar Utilize Brandwatch platform, Meta Business Suite and native platforms for social media management Minimum QualificationsFull Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: https://hr.oregonstate.edu/student-employment-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirementsMust be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term* *International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required QualificationsMust be a student at Oregon State University and have a general understanding of office practices. Be able to handle interpersonal relationships maturely, thoughtfully, and empathetically, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Experience in social media, marketing or communications preferred. Preferred (Special) QualificationsWorking Conditions / Work ScheduleWork ScheduleThis is a part-time position working up to 10 hours per week, between the hours of 8-5 p.m. Tuesday - Thursday. Work LocationThe work location for this position is on-site in the Foundation's Corvallis office at 4238 SW Research Way, Corvallis, OR 97333.
