The Role The Mission Critical Center of Excellence delivers large-scale, complex projects annually, specializing in data center and mission-critical construction for leading technology and telecommunications clients across the United States. With a focus on fast-paced, MEP-intensive environments, the group is recognized for executing highly technical builds while offering strong career growth opportunities within the mission-critical sector.The Project Executive, Mission Critical provides overall leadership and strategic direction across assigned projects. This role is responsible for contract oversight, financial performance, client relationships, and ensuring successful project delivery from preconstruction through closeout.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Project OversightProvide leadership across all financial, operational, and strategic aspects of projectsMaintain high-level oversight from project inception through completion, including budget, cost control, performance, and progress trackingEnsure seamless transition from preconstruction to operations, working closely with Project Managers and SuperintendentsAllocate appropriate resources and assign qualified staff based on project scope and complexityOversee project execution to ensure alignment with budget, schedule, quality, and profitability objectivesBusiness Development & Project AcquisitionSupport work acquisition efforts, including defining project budgets, schedules, and execution strategiesParticipate in proposal development, RFP responses, and client presentationsLeverage industry relationships to identify and pursue new opportunitiesContribute to contract negotiations and project award processesEvaluate project risks and challenges that may impact delivery or profitabilityPreconstruction & Project Start-UpCollaborate with preconstruction and estimating teams to develop budgets, schedules, and logistics plansEnsure effective handover between preconstruction and operations teamsReview and approve pre-mobilization activitiesAssign project management and field teamsProject OperationsMaintain a thorough understanding of contract requirements and ensure compliance across project teamsConduct regular site visits to monitor progress, costs, and performanceIdentify risks and implement solutions to maintain schedule and budget targetsDrive high standards in quality, execution, and client satisfactionPeople & Team DevelopmentLead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, and broader project teamsSupport recruitment, hiring, and talent development initiativesEnsure effective alignment of team capabilities with project requirementsFoster a high-performance culture across all project teamsFinancial ManagementOversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitabilityManage cash flow, accounts receivable, and overall P&L performanceMaintain visibility into contingencies, risks, and cost-saving opportunitiesSchedule & Process ManagementSupport development and execution of baseline schedulesMonitor schedule performance and implement improvements where neededPromote structured planning methodologies and workflow optimizationEnsure adherence to internal standard operating procedures and processesSafety & ComplianceChampion a strong safety culture across all project sitesEnsure appropriate safety planning and budget allocationDrive compliance with all safety standards and best practicesClient & Stakeholder ManagementServe as the primary senior contact for clients, owners, consultants, and key stakeholdersMaintain ongoing communication to assess satisfaction and project performanceBuild and sustain long-term client relationshipsRepresent the organization in all external engagementsMeetings & GovernanceParticipate in and lead key project and financial review meetingsChair regular project team meetings to monitor performance and alignmentQualificationsBachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related fieldTypically 10–15+ years of experience with a large-scale general contractor or construction management firmStrong understanding of complex commercial and mission-critical construction practicesProven track record managing multiple large-scale projects and leading high-performing teamsExperience developing and managing client and stakeholder relationshipsAbility to adapt to changing environments and implement new processes effectivelyStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
