Additionally, we support approximately 5,100 alumni on their journey to and through high school and college.Job DescriptionProvide support to students and student(s) of disabilityImplement comprehensive positive behavioral support plans and effective behavior management strategies; deliver instruction; participate as a member of the educational team, and hold design and implement all components of the student's individual programUphold and enforce school rules and policiesAdapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher to provide access to class activitiesSupervise students throughout the school day in classrooms, during educational activities, and during recess and lunchAssist teacher in classroom instruction and behavior supportImplement Behavior Support PlanImplement behavior strategiesAssist in managing the behavior of students and crisis intervention, including restraintAbility to work with students having special needs and/or aggressive behaviors (i.e. biting, kicking, hitting, emotional outbursts, etc.)Appropriately manage student behavior and guide student toward more acceptable social behaviors Model appropriate behavioral interventionsConfer with teacher(s) on a regular basis to assist in evaluation student(s) progress and/or implementing IEP goals and objectivesAssist with student assessments, as appropriateParticipate in IEP meetings, as appropriateMaintain appropriate documentation, records, and reportsParticipate in developing data collection systems, and monitor data collection to ensure the success of academic and behavior plansMaintain confidentiality of students and families as mandated by district, state and federal regulationsParticipate in school and regional trainings, in-services and meetingsEstablish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and parentsCommunicate effectively in oral and written formOther duties as assigned by the Director of Special EducationQualificationsBachelor's Degree highly preferred1-year experience working with students with special needs in a school settingExperience working in an educational setting implementing behavioral intervention for students with complex and/or severe behavioral problems.Certification in NCI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention), desiredFirst aid and CPR, desiredKnowledge of positive behavioral interventions and applied behavior analysis (ABA)Knowledge of behavioral management strategies and techniques related to pupils with special needsAdditional InformationJoining KIPP SoCal Means the FollowingWorking at an organization committed to the hard work necessary to ensure education is for liberationSpending time with students and families in the best communities of San DiegoSupport and care from fellow regional team membersOngoing professional development and coaching from managerWorking with Us Means the Following PerksFull-time position offered a rate of $19/hour (non-negotiable)Very competitive compensation package inclusive of a generous benefits package100% of healthcare premium costs covered by employer, dependents added at 50% of the costEmployer-paid KIPP SoCal life insurance401(k) plan with up to 6% match by KIPP SoCalVoluntary Benefits (Pet Insurance, Supplemental Life, Accident, Short Term Disability, etc.)Generous time off program includes 22 holidays and sick leaveOther great benefits (Flexible spending account, EAP, tuition reimbursement for dependents, etc.)PLEASE NOTE: KIPP SoCal Public Schools requires that all team members be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 for the safety of our students, family, and staff.
