Sports Camp Counselor (Archery)
Sports Camp Counselor Position SummaryIn service to the Penn Charter Summer Camps, a Sports Camp counselor must embrace and model curiosity and a desire for professional growth. In this position, lead counselors work closely and compassionately with the campers, Sports Camp staff and families, and the Sports Camp director. Additionally, they also demonstrate a desired commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion both in their service and in building relationships. Lead Sports Camp Counselors are seasonal, temporary employees serving, Monday through Friday 8:30 am - 3:45 pm, from June 15-July 24th. All counselors must attend mandatory orientation training as a prerequisite condition of employment.Essential FunctionsSports Camp counselors are responsible for:Working with other camp staff members to plan, lead, and coordinate camp activitiesProviding guidance, motivation, and support to all campers/camp visitorsLeading and supporting campers in age-appropriate activitiesOrganizing team games, explaining the rules, and acting as a referee/umpire throughout the gameChecking in on children to ensure medical needs have been metMediating any camper disputesAdhering to a camp schedule provided by the Sports Camp DirectorCommunicating with parents and answering any questionsEnsuring, cleaning and maintaining proper use of camp equipmentMonitoring campers to prevent accidents and ensuring compliance with camp rulesReporting details of incidents, such as accidents or rules violations to the Sports Camp DirectorHelping with camper transitions to and from pool area, tennis courts, and campus fieldsMonitoring and supervising campers during free playHelping campers during dismissals and drop offKnowing, enforcing, and following all safety guidelines associated with the Sports Camp program, including knowing the whereabouts of your campers at all times.
