Office Assistant
*Office Assistant (Part-Time to Start • Flexible • Growth Potential • In-Person Only)*
*About the Role*
I’m a financial advisor in Memphis serving active-duty military members, veterans, and their families. I’m looking for an in-person office assistant who can help with client communication, paperwork, organization, and general administrative and marketing support.
This role starts *part-time with a light initial workload*, and the hours can increase naturally as you learn the systems, get comfortable with the responsibilities, and take on more tasks. The position has the potential to grow significantly for someone who’s motivated and interested, and it could even become a full-time role in the future if that’s something you want.
I don’t have a rigid structure in mind — I’m looking for the right person who can start small, learn steadily, and grow with the needs of the office.
*What You’ll Do (Starting Part-Time)*
Your early tasks will be straightforward and manageable:
* Light communication with clients
* Helping clients complete paperwork and forms
* Answering the office phone when present
* Organizing digital and physical files
* Preparing simple checklists and follow-up notes
* Basic email drafting/editing
* Weekly updates on completed tasks
* Assisting with marketing and general office projects
As you build confidence and familiarity, your responsibilities can increase based on your skills and interests.
*Growth Responsibilities (As You Develop in the Role)*
With consistency and initiative, you may take on:
* Client follow-ups and appointment confirmations
* Preparing meeting materials
* Supporting marketing efforts and outreach
* Managing documents and office workflows
* Helping with multi-step client service tasks
* Assisting in improving organization and efficiency
Hours and responsibilities scale naturally based on what you bring to the role and what you want from it.
*Ideal Candidates*
This role is great for:
* Veterans
* Military spouses
* ROTC cadets
* College students
* Early-career professionals
* Anyone seeking flexible part-time work with room to grow
* Someone who enjoys helping people and learning new things
*Required Skills*
You don’t need to know everything on day one — you just need solid fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Strong verbal and written communication
* Comfortable talking with clients and answering phones
* Ability to manage and organize digital files
* Ability to convert documents (PDF ↔ Word)
* Basic tech literacy (typing, learning new tools, using various programs)
* Familiarity with professional email etiquette
A friendly, steady, reliable personality is essential.
*What I’m Looking For*
* Reliability and consistency
* Clear, respectful communication
* Willingness to learn and grow over time
* A positive, service-minded attitude
* Ability to work independently once trained
* No drama or “bare minimum” mindset
*Hours & Pay*
* *Start part-time* — hours are flexible and negotiable
* Hours can increase based on skills, performance, and your interest
* The role *has the potential to grow significantly*, including full-time possibilities
* Flexible scheduling
* Competitive hourly pay based on experience
