Overview As a Sr. Software Development Engineer on Leidos’ ERAM FlightDeck team, you will help modernize the FAA’s en-route system to boost availability, performance, and decision-making for air traffic control. You’ll work across Linux-based real-time environments, contributing to upgrades, automation, and middleware capabilities that support ERAM and the FlightDeck API. This role combines hands-on coding, systems coordination, and enabling cross-team collaboration to deliver impactful improvements in air navigation. You’ll engage with cutting-edge tech and have a clear impact on flight safety and efficiency. ResponsibilitiesModernize ERAM by improving system availability and performanceSupport upgrades across hardware, software, OS, firmware, and security for ERAMEnhance user experience for air traffic control and airline operatorsDevelop and maintain FAA ATC software (Ada95/C++) on UNIX/LinuxLeverage KSH/PERL/PYTHON for automationCoordinate solutions with Systems EngineeringDevelop capabilities and upgrade common services via the FlightDeck APIApply AI/ML concepts to improve software processes and capabilities Key requirementsDegree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering4-8 years of relevant software development experienceStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to work across multiple programming languagesDesire to learn and improve technical capabilitiesExperience with software tasks in a technical organization; ATC experience preferredStrong communicationCollaborative teamworkLeadership experience (preferred)Ada95C++UNIX/Linux
