HP-UX Engineer
Job TitleImplements existing IT infrastructure processes and provides feedback on new processes as required. Follows documented procedures to meet compliance and security requirements
Supports operational activities such as level three system support, root cause analysis, systems validation, performance tuning and capacity management. Works with Operations staff to improve monitoring and alerting activities.
Mentors and provides guidance to members of other infrastructure teams. Documents procedures, demonstrates support tools and provides ad-hoc training
Providing technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative and thorough. Independently develops approach to solutions
Hands-on experience with industry standard operating systems, applications and tools
Analyzing problems, identifying solutions, recommending and implementing methods, procedure and/or techniques for resolutions
Coordinating activities between team members and vendors
Contributes to the development of policies, standards and processes within the systems engineering function.
Performs related duties as assigned. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.
Applying best practices for performance tuning of servers
Upgrades system software and hardware components as required to meet customer needs.
Maintaining system configuration documentation, including SOPs and IQ/OQ, software installation instructions, operating system installation and system configuration sheets.
7-10 years of experience in HP-UX Unix administration at large scale environments.
Troubleshooting database, application and services on HP-UX.
Extensive HP-UX networking knowledge including but not limited to VLANs, bonding, link aggregation.
Install, configure, patch and automate HP-UX server builds using Ignite.
System migrations (P2V Migrations) in the HP-UX environments
Expert in installation, administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of HP-UX servers.
