Job Description:The Ultrasound Technologist II provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician for identification of abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis.Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off (Wednesday to Wednesday) 9pm - 7amKey ResponsibilitiesMaintain active ARDMS credentials and modality‑specific competenciesVerify patient identification and exam orders; prepare patients for proceduresPerform ultrasound exams per departmental protocols and evaluate images for quality and accuracyComplete exams within established timeframes while maintaining high standards of careEducate patients, ensure comfort, and address questions or concernsAssist in training and supporting students and radiology technologistsOperate ultrasound equipment and related systems proficientlyFollow infection control, safety, sterile technique, and quality standardsMaintain accurate documentation, image storage, and required time stampsAdhere to protocols for documentation, billing, consents, QC programs, and equipment reportingCore SkillsPatient care and safetyAdvanced ultrasound knowledge and scanning proficiencyImage evaluation and equipment operationAnatomical knowledgeEffective communicationOrganization and task prioritizationIndependent and team‑based workEmergency responseComputer literacyQualificationsMust have completed a minimum of two additional years of experience relevant to the department post obtaining Ultrasound Tech I. (Primary Children’s one of the two years must be pediatric experience)American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) Registry - Successful completion of one additional registry pertinent to the department beyond Ultrasound Technologist I or (SPI + 2 registries). Options include Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN), abdominal, neuro, breast, pediatric, Vascular, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS). (Primary Children’s one of the two registries must be pediatric)Health Services\BCLS - Basic life support (Certification for Healthcare Providers)Preferred QualificationsAdditional experienceAdditional registriesVascular experienceXray experience/certification Physical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.Location:Intermountain Health Alta View HospitalWork City:SandyWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:35The hourly range for this position is listed below.
