Network Transport Engineer

Location: Houston, TXSchedule: Full-time, onsite 5 days per weekCompensation: $70,000–$85,000 base salary, depending on experienceEmployment Type: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a hands-on Transport & Facilities Engineer to support network transport infrastructure across hub sites, colocation facilities, data centers, regional sites, and related network locations.This role is heavily focused on network transport , with some facilities responsibilities included. The role is approximately 85% transport / 15% facilities . Candidates must have strong hands-on optical/network transport experience. Facilities experience is a plus, but training can be provided for candidates who are strong on the transport side.The ideal candidate will have experience with DWDM, ROADM, OTDR testing, fiber troubleshooting, transport equipment installation, provisioning, and multi-site troubleshooting .Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, troubleshoot, and support network transport equipment across hub, colo, data center, and regional sitesSupport DWDM and ROADM transport environmentsTroubleshoot optical transport issues using OTDR and other fiber testing toolsRead and interpret OTDR traces to identify faults, reflectance issues, and transport impairmentsProvision and turn up optical waves and transport servicesTroubleshoot spans across multiple sites and isolate issues by following alarms and network pathsPerform physical cabling, fiber connections, equipment installation, and testingWork with internal teams including Network Engineering, NOC, Service Delivery, and Field OperationsSupport basic facilities-related troubleshooting for critical infrastructureMonitor and respond to site alarms, power issues, HVAC alerts, generator issues, and other building-related concernsCoordinate with vendors and contractors when facilities issues require escalationParticipate in an on-call rotation for urgent site responseMaintain records, inventory, work areas, and site documentation as neededRequired QualificationsStrong hands-on network transport experienceExperience with DWDMExperience with ROADM or optical transport configurationsExperience using OTDR for fiber troubleshootingAbility to read OTDR traces and identify transport-impacting issuesExperience installing, testing, troubleshooting, or provisioning transport equipmentUnderstanding of fiber troubleshooting, reflectance issues, and optical signal impactsAbility to troubleshoot transport spans across multiple sitesExperience working in telecom hubs, central offices, colocation facilities, data centers, or similar network environmentsComfortable working onsite 5 days per weekComfortable participating in an on-call rotationAbility to lift up to 50 lbs as neededPreferred QualificationsExperience with Ciena transport platformsExperience with WaveServer technologiesExperience with legacy Cisco/Cerent or Sorrento CWDM/DWDM platformsLong-haul or ILA site support experienceCentral office transport or special services backgroundBasic facilities experience, including exposure to:HVAC systemsDC power plantsGeneratorsFire suppression systemsBuilding alarmsVendor coordinationFacilities ScopeFacilities experience is helpful but not the primary requirement.
