Associate Director, Stewardship

Reporting to the Senior Director, Special Projects, working in concert with the central stewardship team of Rutgers University Foundation (RUF), the Associate Director is responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining a strategic stewardship program that will meet the unique stewardship needs of Rutgers-New Brunswick Development and will enhance the unit’s communication with and cultivation of its donors.Essential FunctionsManage a permanent stewardship poolManage the tracking of and reporting on New Brunswick (NB) strategic initiatives Work with the central stewardship office to help track and report on NB endowed positionsIdentify and secure unique gift items for the Chancellor and Foundation to present to high profile and corporate/foundation visitors and select NB Principal Gift Prospects and Major Gift donorsExecute a stewardship plan for the ChancellorCreate custom donor reports/gifts for select donorsProvide support for curated engagement experiences, including organizing corporate and foundation visits and select NB donor campus visitsIdentify and track key milestones for NB donors and push those out to Directors of Development (Reunions, Lifetime Giving, etc.)Organize select NB special eventsGather NB data for donor impact reports produced by the central stewardship officeCoordinate NB’s acknowledgment process with central stewardship officeShare best practices for scholarship awards and how to organize themServe as the liaison for the NB development team to the central stewardship office, providing content and information to ensure NB is well-represented in central stewardship and communications.Other duties as assignedCompetency AptitudesLeadershipOwn complex projects with senior leadership support (leadership coaches and removes roadblocks)Set clear direction for a projectProvide feedback, develop staff, and colleaguesSet clear direction for a project or sub-team of colleagues; provide feedback and develop staffAutonomyEstablish and manage set guidelines/timeline for department/project/programPerform project analysis; devise and implement process improvements to optimize outcomesComplexityInitiate projects, strategies and innovations within the organizationDemonstrate a sophisticated understanding of department/project/programAbility to devise strategies and execute on increasingly complex projects (interdisciplinary initiatives)StrategyManage operational components for departmentDevelop and submit budgets and other collateral materials as needed to advance a university initiativeEducation And/or ExperienceBachelor's degree and/or 4+ years of professional experience in fundraising, alumni relations, non-profit organizations, event planning, higher education, or related fields.Working ConditionsThis position requires clarity of focus while juggling complex projects or deadlines with little physical effort. Will work evenings, weekends, or odd hours to meet resource-raising commitments. Typical working conditions with an absence of disagreeable elements. This position requires some early mornings and late evenings to accommodate meetings, travel, events, and external constituents’ schedules.Workplace ArrangementsThis is classified as an office-centric hybrid position. Colleagues working under an office-centric hybrid arrangement have a primary workstation in a university or foundation location and are in the office between one and five days a week. The frequency with which they are present in the office depends on their role and function and the interdependency of other functions.Compensation And BenefitsThe position is budgeted for an annual salary of $80,000.
