Workforce Career Counselor
Job TitleSalary $42,000-45,000 year
Scope Of PositionProvide individualized case management and career counseling to participants through programs funded by WIOA, TANF, Youth and special grant funds. Provide direct assistance to program participants in all areas related to gaining and/or retaining employment and career advancement.
ResponsibilitiesAssess participants' family and personal development needs, workplace skills, and education and career goals to gain a better understanding of their life circumstances
Understand various funding stream eligibility requirements and complete properly documented enrollment into specified program(s)
Develop and update a customized service plan to align with participant employment and training goals
Using professional one-on-one work and rapport development, provide barrier mitigation and comprehensive case management that supports successful training and workforce engagement
Facilitate referrals to appropriate community service or social service agencies when needed
Follow-up with partner agencies to ensure successful engagement in prescribed support services
Counsel, motivate and encourage assigned caseload of participants to develop and guide through a customized career pathway and training opportunities
Perform outreach to participants to support their active program engagement through off-site appointments to employers, satellite site locations, and community visits
Develop and adapt innovative services and delivery methods to meet the participant where they are located to facilitate both virtual and in-person services at all CareerLink Centers
Maintain organized tracking of clients by documenting all participant interactions, contacts, activities, case notes, and files to ensure that regularly scheduled contacts are made as required
Provide accurate and timely submission of required program data per funding stream to ensure compliance with real-time reporting needs
Maintain detailed documentation of all contacts in the state's system of record per contact requirements
Provide status updates and perform ongoing goal planning sessions with appropriate program staff
Coordinate participant retention services and accommodate participant work schedules

QualificationsBachelor's degree in social services, counseling, or education preferred or Bachelor's degree in similar areas with experience in counseling of individuals and families
Case management experience preferred
Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals and demonstrate a positive professional attitude
Attention to detail and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite required
Bi-lingual skills or experience working with ESL populations a plus
Must have access to reliable transportation
