Network EngineerSan Mateo County, California, United StatesCLIENT IS LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO HAVE WORKED WITH ORGANIZATION OWNING BIG NETWORK DATA CENTER OR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER.● Provider shall:○ Manage network provisioning functions including transporting and peeringcircuit turn-up, testing, and decommissioning as defined in the applicableClient’s standard operating procedure (“SOP”).○ Manage provisioning tasks through Client’s internal tools and per SOP.○ Configure network devices utilizing Client’s systems as needed during theprovisioning process.○ Manage circuit cross connect installation and work with Client’s teams indata centers and external vendors for circuits in Client’s point of presence(“PoP”) sites.○ Ensure all circuits and cross connections are properly documented inClient’s databases and third-party vendor systems per SOP.○ Submit service orders and trouble tickets with third-party vendors onbehalf of Client’s as needed.○ Manage project timelines to support network turn-up within expectedcompletion intervals.○ Monitor Task queue and take ownership and/or distribute to the teammembers tasks and tickets within the scope of this SOW.○ Assist in the creation of scope of work instructions provided to vendors forthe purpose of their Services execution at the PoP sites.○ Provide back-office type support and guidance to Client’s team.○ Proactively contribute to documentation, automation and processes asthey evolve.○ Assist in commissioning and decommissioning of PoP sites. Maintaindocumentation including specs, cross connects, and inventories.○ Work closely with network engineering, logistics, and equipment vendorsas new equipment and technologies are integrated into the productionnetwork.○ Monitor Task queue and take ownership or distribute to the team memberstasks and/or tickets within the scope of this engagement.○ Track available firmware updates to ensure servers remain in compliance.○ Be responsible for ordering cross connects and working with carriers forletter of authorization (“LOA”).○ Work with carriers and network provisioning engineers to turn up newcircuits and engage and escalate with vendors to troubleshootout-of-service or faulty circuits.○ Strictly follow documentation guidelines while enabling a circuit.○ Verify and validate cross connects, circuits, and optical power levelsbefore commissioning circuits.○ Perform end-to-end testing after a circuit is provisioned.○ Build appropriate templates and scripts to further automate tasks whileensuring low risk to the network via a change control process.○ Work with Optical/DWDM Network Management Systems to successfullyprovision and troubleshoot Metro and Long Haul circuits.○ Deploy and Provision Data Center Racks○ Work closely with EdgeOps and DCOps teams for deployments.● Role/Classification - Network Engineer○ CCNA/JNCIA or CCNP/JNCIP○ Intermediate networking skills.○ Ability to troubleshoot intermediate networking issues like interoperability,diagnostics, and configuration.○ Working knowledge of major networking hardware.○ Deployment and operational experience with service providers, WAN, orlarge enterprises.○ Proficient in routing and switching technologies and protocols (TCP/IP,STP, VLAN, CDP, LACP, BGP, ISIS/OSPF/EIGRP).○ Experience with IPv4/IPv6 and developing network build andtroubleshooting scripts (Python, Linux/Unix Shell, JSP, Ruby, Perl).○ Proficient in fiber-optic technology.○ Experience with field-based work in POPs, metro, Colo, or Enterpriseenvironments.○ Adequate communication skills.○ Certification such as CompTIA, CCNA/JNCIP, CCNP/JNCIP preferred.○ 4 to 7 years of related industry experience.
