Tennessee Resettlement Aid       Fundraising & Development ConsultantIndividual Giving and Donor EngagementPart-Time Contract Position | Nashville / Middle TennesseeAbout Tennessee Resettlement Aid (TRA)Tennessee Resettlement Aid (TRA) is a Nashville-based nonprofit organization serving refugee and immigrant families throughout Middle Tennessee by helping fill critical gaps in the resettlement and integration system.Founded in 2021 in response to urgent needs among Afghan refugee families, TRA has grown to support a diverse immigrant community through culturally appropriate food assistance, donated home furnishings, women and baby supplies, school support programs, winter coat distributions, and other essential services delivered through partnerships and volunteers.Our mission is simple: to help families build stability, dignity, and self-sufficiency as they begin new lives in our community. Position SummaryTRA is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven fundraising professional to serve as a Fundraising & Development Consultant, focused primarily on individual giving and donor engagement.This is a part-time, local position ideal for someone with prior nonprofit fundraising or development experience who is looking for meaningful, mission-driven work with flexibility and purpose.The consultant will work closely with TRA’s Executive Director to strengthen donor relationships, re-engage prior supporters, cultivate new donors, and help build a sustainable culture of philanthropy for the organization.This role is highly relational and outreach-focused, requiring confidence with donor calls, in-person meetings, follow-up communication, and direct fundraising conversations.Key ResponsibilitiesIndividual Giving & Donor OutreachDevelop and execute a focused 90-day individual giving planRe-engage prior donors and strengthen relationships with current supportersIdentify and cultivate prospective donors throughout Middle TennesseeConduct donor outreach through:Personal phone calls and follow-up conversationsIn-person meetings and coffee/lunch visitsPersonalized emails and donor communicationsSupport donor solicitations and confidently participate in fundraising asksDonor Stewardship & Pipeline ManagementDevelop and maintain a donor pipeline with clear next steps and follow-up activityStrengthen donor stewardship practices, including:Timely thank-you outreachDonor updates and impact communicationOngoing relationship-building touchpointsHelp create consistent fundraising rhythms and accountability processesStrategic Support to Executive DirectorServe as a fundraising thought partner and advisor to the Executive DirectorParticipate in weekly planning and development meetingsAssist with preparation for donor meetings and fundraising conversationsHelp strengthen overall fundraising discipline, follow-up practices, and donor engagement strategyTracking & ReportingMaintain organized notes and activity tracking for donor outreachProvide brief weekly progress updatesDeliver an end-of-contract summary including:Outreach activityDonor engagement progressGifts and donor growthRecommendations for future development effortsQualificationsProven experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, donor relations, or individual givingComfort initiating donor calls, securing meetings, and making direct asksStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, professional presenceHighly organized with strong follow-through and attention to detailSelf-motivated and able to work independentlyLocal to Nashville/Middle Tennessee with the ability to meet donors in personCommitment to TRA’s mission and culturally respectful storytellingPreferred but Not RequiredExperience building fundraising systems within a small or growing nonprofitFamiliarity with CRM or donor-tracking systemsExperience with major gifts, annual giving, or donor stewardship programsPosition DetailsPart-time contract positionApproximately 20 hours per weekInitial 3-month term with potential for extensionFlexible scheduleCompensation commensurate with experienceNashville / Middle Tennessee preferredHow to ApplyPlease submit:A brief note describing your fundraising experience and interest in TRA’s missionResume or LinkedIn profileA sample of donor-facing communication or a brief description of a fundraising initiative you helped leadFor more information, please contact:Jeff SchenkelExecutive DirectorTennessee Resettlement AidContact Information: Jeff.Schenkel@TennesseeResettlementAid.org
