This is an opportunity to contribute to a high-precision manufacturing environment focused on operational excellence, advanced machining technologies, and continuous process improvement.LOCATIONBangor, Maine, 04401COMPENSATION$55-$60 per hourSCHEDULEMonday-Friday (40 hours per week)CONTRACT TERM1 year with high likelihood of extension or conversion to full-time employee.POSITION OVERVIEW – CNC ProgrammerThis role will support advanced manufacturing operations by developing, optimizing, and verifying CNC programs for complex machining processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with CNC programming, CAD/CAM software, machine controls, and shop-floor troubleshooting within a high-precision manufacturing environment.This contractor will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering and production teams to improve machining efficiency, support machine startups, train operators, develop standard work documentation, and implement process improvements that enhance safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.RESPONSIBILITIESDevelop, modify, and maintain CNC programs using CAM platforms such as Mastercam,Siemens NX, and Esprit 2000 for multi-axis milling, turning, and grinding applicationsProgram and troubleshoot CNC machine controls including Fanuc, Siemens, and Okuma systemsDevelop and optimize macro-based routines including Fanuc Macro B, Okuma macros, Renishaw probing macros, and Siemens macrosVerify CNC programs prior to production release using Vericut simulation and verification softwareProvide daily CNC programming support and troubleshooting assistance to shop-floor operators and manufacturing teamsSupport Manufacturing Engineers with CNC-related process improvements, machine startups, and production optimization initiativesProvide operator training during new machine installations, rebuilds, and process improvement activitiesDevelop workstation instructions, standard work documentation, and CNC process documentationSupport tooling and fixturing requirements to improve machining performance and consistencyEstablish tooling consumption standards and minimum inventory requirements to support production readinessLead process improvement initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, cost, and deliveryCollaborate effectively with engineering, operations, and production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLSBachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university OR high school diploma/GED with relevant manufacturing or operations experienceMinimum of 2+ years of manufacturing or operations experienceHands-on CNC programming experience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with CNC controls including Fanuc, Siemens, and/or OkumaExperience with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Siemens NX, Esprit 2000, or similar platformsExperience verifying CNC programs using Vericut or comparable simulation softwareStrong knowledge of CNC machining processes including milling, turning, and/or grindingExperience programming and troubleshooting CNC macros and probing routinesAbility to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and machining requirementsStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex machining issuesStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering and production teamsAbility to work independently while supporting a team-based manufacturing environmentPREFERRED SKILLSExperience machining large-scale components weighing up to 50,000 lbs.Experience working with exotic materials and complex geometriesExperience with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiativesExperience with 3D modeling software such as NX, Inventor, or similar toolsExperience developing tooling strategies, fixtures, and machining standardsPrevious experience training CNC operators and supporting production startupsStrong project management skills with the ability to plan, execute, and document improvement initiativesHigh attention to detail, organization, and process discipline
