Assistant Athletic Trainer

The Methodist University Athletic Department is inviting applications for an immediate hire Assistant Athletic Trainer position. This is a full-time 12-month staff position. The approximate start date for this position is anticipated to be March 2nd, 2026.The Assistant Athletic Trainer will report directly to the Director of Athletic Training Services/Head Athletic Trainer and is independently responsible for the day-to-day sports medicine/athletic training operations of one or more of the Methodist University's 20 NCAA Division III Varsity, JV/Developmental teams and Cheerleading. Duties include but are not limited to:Independently and effectively oversee all sports medicine operations for assigned teams with minimum supervisionPrevention, Evaluation, Treatment and Rehabilitation of student-athlete injuries and illnesses within the University's comprehensive sports medicine programMaintain accurate, complete and precise documentation utilizing an electronic medical record systemCompleting required insurance claimsCompliance with privacy regulations (FERPA, HIPAA, etc.)Daily interaction and communication with coaching staff including routine reports and correspondenceWork closely with/have good work working relationship with team orthopedic practice/team physiciansSchedule and coordinate medical appointmentsMaintain communication with Student Health Services for non-orthopedic illnessesAdvocate and provide resources for nutritional and mental healthAttending designated team practices/eventsAbility to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays in excess of 40 hours/weekTravel/Coverage of away events; pending sport assignmentMaintenance/Upkeep of Athletic Training equipment and facilitiesUphold Policies and Procedures set forth by Methodist University, the USA South Conference and the NCAAAssistance with administrative duties as agreed upon by candidate and Director of Athletic Training ServicesGreat Work-Life Balance with the biggest staff in the USA South ConferenceBased on Year-to -Year Budget Methodist University is able to provide the following for Athletic Trainers:Umbrella liability insurance policy to cover all medical professionalsNATA DuesBOC DuesNorth Carolina Licensure Application/Renewal Dues10 CEU's through Datalys/NCAA Injury Surveillance SystemContinuing Education OpportunitiesCandidates should apply online on Methodist University website.
