Patient Registration Representative

As a Patient Registration Representative, you will be the first point of contact for patients securing access to care. You will perform all tasks related to the registration and pre-registration of outpatient and inpatient accounts. This role requires a hospitable and accurate professional to calculate and secure patient liabilities, including copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles, ensuring the needs of the patient, physician, and hospital are met.Location: Downey, CA 90241 (100% Onsite) Compensation: $21.34/hr Schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per day (08:30 AM – 5:00 PM) Contract Type: 4-Month Initial Contract Training Requirement: Must have availability to train 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM for the first two weeks.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Access: Facilitate patient registration by accurately entering data for inpatient and outpatient accounts.Financial Coordination: Calculate and collect patient financial liabilities such as deductibles and copayments in an efficient manner.Communication: Act as a liaison between patients, guarantors, insurance companies, and physicians.Compliance: Maintain stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws and confidentiality standards.Problem Solving: Utilize strong analytical skills to research complex information and resolve billing or registration discrepancies.Required Qualifications & SkillsExperience: 1+ year of medical office, hospital, or medical billing work experience is preferred.Technical Proficiency:Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.The ability to maneuver through multiple system screens quickly and accurately.Typing speed of 45+ WPM is required.Industry Knowledge:Solid understanding of insurance requirements is required.Knowledge of medical terminology is strongly preferred.Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including strong spelling and mathematical abilities.Customer Service: Proven background in the medical industry with excellent phone etiquette and a professional attitude.Logistics: Ability to travel to off-site outpatient locations as needed.Personal QualitiesProfessionalism: Punctual, dependable, and maintains a professional appearance in compliance with the dress code.Adaptability: Ability to multi-task and remain flexible in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.Ethics: Strong work ethic and the ability to make sound decisions independently.Attention to Detail: Demonstrated focus on accuracy and the ability to learn new policies and procedures quickly.
