Our expertise includes advanced research systems, maritime solutions, sophisticated sensor technologies and payload delivery capabilities.This is an anticipated opening, and we proactively seeking candidates for upcoming opportunities in the near term!Job SummaryThe systems engineer will lead system and subsystem level design/requirements generation, development, decomposition, design analyses, operational concept definition, and traceability for the total system design. This individual must possess significant experience working in a defense manufacturing environment and will be an expert in understanding the system development lifecycle, performing functional analysis, allocating requirements, and acting as the primary interface to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specificationsResponsibilities And TasksLead customer interactions in regard to influencing and understanding Voice of the Customer and product requirementsDefine and execute trade studies that result in selection of the most optimal approach to complex design and architecture issues. Engage with suppliers to evaluate candidate solutions.Performs workforce planning and resource allocation in coordination with Engineering Functional Leadership and Engineering Business Unit LeadsFully understands systems engineering processSupport proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost estimating, and presentation activitiesReview, develop, and document system level requirements, CONOPS, and mission statementsWork with all technical functions to develop and document product architectures that meet technical, cost and schedule goalsPerform requirements management, analysis, and allocations on complex systems designAbility to effectively document and communicate designs, results, reports, and presentationsProduce and/or review technical documents, specifications and standardsResearch, conceptualize, and evaluate complex system architectures and product designs, recommend design modifications to improve product performance, cost, reliability, and development schedule (can be activity lead or in supporting role)Lead system integration efforts including hands-on evaluation of prototypesPlan and support verification and validation activities for complex system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirementsPrepare and/or deliver technical presentations to customers, both internal and externalProvide regular and clear communication to customers and subcontractorsWork independently and with internal/external organizations.Recommend tools to improve systems engineering design processes and proceduresFully understand internal systems engineering proceduresEducation, Experience, Licenses And Certifications4-year degree from an accredited university STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Preferably Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science or System Engineering or related field OR a combination of education and relevant experience; or Masters’ degree and 5+ years of related experienceA minimum of 8 years of experience in Systems Engineering.A minimum of 5-10 years of relevant field experience with design engineering.Experience with the JAMA Connect or other modern requirements management toolsExperience with requirements derivatives, required.Skills And AbilitiesCapability to adapt to industry wide standard modeling and requirements management toolsCMMI, AS 9100, and ISO 900 process development experienceFamiliar with Jira for issue tracking and supporting Agile development methodologies, collaborating with Agile teams and support of team demonstrationsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and TeamsU.S. citizenship is required.Must be able to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.Travel And Physical Requirements10% travel required.The physical demands describe here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
