You will report to the hospital leadership team – the Hospital Manager and Medical Director. Your work will directly support your peers, the leadership team, and the hospital's goals.ResponsibilitiesVeterinary Technicians are responsible for the following. This list may be revised at any time, and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed.Client Care:Check clients in and out for appointments, surgeries, and proceduresFoster an educational experience for the clientProvide exemplary communication and customer serviceExplain discharge instructions to clientsConduct follow-up correspondenceTechnical Skills:Manage exam flow, including patient restraintMonitor anesthesia and assist doctors during surgeriesPerform dental prophylaxis and radiologyProvide care and treatments for hospitalized patientsPrepare testing for in-house and referral laboratoryPerform venipuncture and IV catheter placementProduce digital radiographsVerify and fill patient prescriptionsProvide urgent care during emergenciesProvide cleaning and maintenance for equipmentClerical Skills:Maintain accurate medical recordsAnswer and direct multiple phone linesRespond to company emails in a professional, timely mannerPrepare/process scans and referral reportsLearn and utilize estimates, fee schedule, and other operational documentsEnsure cleanliness of hospitalPerform other duties as assignedProfessional Experience / Personal CharacteristicsExperience valued but not requiredMust be open to learningComfortable with computers and other technology (experience with AVImark software helpful but not required)Passion for building relationships and educatingCompassion toward animals and peopleHigh energy and drive to be successfulFast learner, able to multitask and be flexible to changeAbility to innovate and problem solveTeam player who can work effectively in a fast-growing, dynamic environmentEffective communicator in a variety of situationsGreat attention to detailThings You Need to KnowDependable attendance neededMust be able to work shifts that support hospital business hours and until all patients have been dischargedPotentially subject to high noise levels, bites, and scratchesPotentially subject to hazardous chemicalsCompensationFirehouse offers full-time team members medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k matching, short-term disability, PTO, paid holidays, discounted Veterinary/Boarding services, Employee Assistance Program, and more, including additional pay consideration for bilingual candidates.
