Transportation Clerk

The Transportation Clerk will provide administrative support to the transportation department including filing freight claims, reviewing DOT logs for compliance, negotiating freight rates and assisting in the warehouse as needed.Responsibilities:Constant communication with drivers to ensure on time deliveries/pick-ups and customer satisfaction Coordinate the routes daily based on customer needsReview LTL and UPS costs daily for cost effectiveness based on customer needsFile freight claims with the applicable carrier Using the AS400, negotiate freight rates for better service and cost effectivenessReview driver logs, hours of service, trip reports, driver reports, etc for DOT/FMCSR complianceAssist with warehouse responsibilities as required Requirements:High School/GED education requiredDetailed knowledge of local, state and federal DOT/FMCSR rules requiredMinimum of 2 years of transportation administration/clerk experience required, preferably in a warehouse/distribution environmentAbility to perform clerical and administrative duties with speed and accuracy under limited supervision Excellent verbal and written communication skills Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc)Roadnet/Omnitracs Routing experience required.AS400/iSeries experience preferred, particularly inventory/receiving functionsSelf-starter with the ability to multi-task projectsAbility to answer a heavy volume of phone calls from both internal and external customersMust be a detail-orientated problem solverExperience with an Automatic On-Board Recording Device preferred (AOBRDS such as XATA and OmniTRACS)Previous commercial driver experience a plusWhat's In It For You?Competitive hourly wage with opportunities for advancement.Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.Ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and career growth.Positive and inclusive workplace culture where your contributions are valued.The perks of being a Bunzl team member don’t stop at being part of a great team or being valued as our #1 asset.
