Construction Manager (Segment Manager) – Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) |Morgner Construction Management is seeking a highly experienced Segment Manager to support a LA Metro Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project. This role will oversee a defined corridor segment and ensure successful delivery of construction activities from pre-construction through closeout.This is a key leadership role requiring strong coordination across design, construction, utilities, and stakeholder interfaces in a complex, active urban environment.Position SummaryThe Segment Manager is responsible for managing all construction and coordination activities within an assigned segment of the BRT corridor. This includes oversight of contractors, schedule adherence, quality compliance, safety, stakeholder coordination, and interface management with utilities and third-party agencies.The role requires a proactive leader who can drive progress, mitigate risks, and ensure alignment with LA Metro standards and project objectives for safety, quality, budget, and schedule.Key Duties & Responsibilities:Manage all construction activities within an assigned BRT segment, ensuring compliance with contract documents, plans, and specificationsServe as the primary point of contact for segment-related coordination between contractors, designers, LA Metro, and stakeholdersMonitor construction progress and enforce schedule milestones; identify delays and implement recovery strategiesOversee field inspection teams, including civil, structural, and systems workCoordinate utility relocations, traffic control, and street restoration activitiesEnsure compliance with safety standards, environmental requirements, and regulatory permitsReview and resolve RFIs, submittals, change orders, and field issues within the segmentSupport cost control efforts, including tracking changes and evaluating contractor claimsInterface with community stakeholders, local agencies, and businesses impacted by constructionPrepare and present progress reports, risk assessments, and status updates to project leadershipCoordinate with project controls, document control, and quality management teamsSupport testing, commissioning, and project closeout activitiesEducation:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)Relevant certifications (PE, CCM, PMP) are a plusExperience:Minimum 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction management or engineeringExperience on transportation infrastructure projects, preferably with LA Metro or similar agenciesDemonstrated experience managing large, complex urban construction segmentsStrong knowledge of bus rapid transit (BRT), roadway, utilities, and traffic stagingExperience with alternative delivery methods (Design-Build, CM/GC, or CMAR) preferredPreferred Qualifications:Experience working on LA Metro projects or similar public agency programsStrong understanding of utility coordination, street improvements, and transit systems integrationFamiliarity with Primavera P6, Procore, or similar project management toolsExcellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsWhy Join MorgnerWork on a high-profile LA Metro transit improvement projectBe part of a team delivering critical infrastructure that enhances mobility and safetyCollaborative environment with opportunities for growth and leadership
