Our school isseeking caring, consistent, adults to join our paraeducator team.Paraeducators work closely with teachers to provide extra support tostudents.The Maize Special Education Cooperative serves students in the Maize andRenwick school districts. While this position works at Andale ElementarySchool, they are employed by Maize.The****Inter Related/Instructional Support (IRIS)****para worksprimarily with students that have learning disabilities but the studentssupported could have any type of disability. The environment could be inthe general and/or special education classrooms as well as with one ormore students. Typically responsibilities could include note taking,assisting with content review, reading material out loud, helping thestudent stay on task or even escorting them to an alternate location fora quieter place to work.Paras working with ourFunctional Applied Academics (FAA)classroom maywork with students who have a cognitive disability, a traumatic brainInjury, Other Health Impairment, Or Some Combination Of Disabilitiesthat limit their ability to complete the K-12 general curriculum withoutsignificant modifications. The academic emphasis for students supportedin FAA is on academic skills that will contribute to their independencein work, recreation, and living after graduation. Paraeducatorresponsibilities could include providing academic accommodations as wellas social emotional or physical support depending on the individualstudent needs. Some form of toileting is very common with youngerstudents. Toileting needs tend to decrease as students are older but maystill exist.
