Dental Hygienist
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and detail-oriented Part-Time Dental Hygienist to join our clinical team on Thursdays and Fridays from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A third or possible 4th day may be available on an as needed basis for the right candidate. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional preventive and periodontal care, supporting advanced dental and implant procedures, and providing outstanding patient education in a patient-centered, high-quality dental practice.
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellent clinical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the dentist, management, and clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and an efficient hygiene schedule.
Daily Clinical Responsibilities
Review the daily schedule during team huddle at 7:45 AM
Update patient charts one week prior to appointments (e.g., x-rays due, probing depths, forms)
Review and update patient health and dental history forms as necessary
Accurately chart each patient’s periodontal health
Perform thorough and gentle prophylaxis for patients
Conduct scaling, root planing, and selective polishing as appropriate
Perform initial mouth screenings and review oral health history
Administer local anesthetics and assist in anesthetizing Dr's patients as needed
Take prescribed radiographs and apply fluoride, sealants, and desensitizing agents (SDF)
Polish restorations, cleanfull arch dental implants, and fill access holes when needed
Place subgingival medicaments for periodontal therapy
Utilize laser therapy for periodontal treatment (Laser Bacterial Reduction, Laser Assisted Periodontal Therapy, SRP)
Perform cleanings on sedated patients (general anesthesia, IV sedation, oral sedation, N₂O)
Provide post-treatment instructions to patients after procedures
Accurately and thoroughly record all provided treatment
Maintain HIPAA compliance by securely storing and handling patient records
Ensure operatories and instruments are cleaned and sterilized after each patient
Patient Communication & Education
Communicate with patients in a compassionate, professional, and easy-to-understand manner
Check and ensure patient comfort during all procedures and help reduce anxiety
Demonstrate and teach proper oral hygiene techniques
Educate patients on nutrition, cavity prevention, and periodontal disease management
Exhibit exceptional chairside manners, particularly with high-anxiety patients.
Specialized & Supportive Procedures
Perform and maintain: A04 maintenance or 3on6 maintenance cleanings , Pre-surgery appointments, implant scans, In-house Whitening Treatments, Nightguard, retainer, snore guard, ortho, and implant scans.
Assist the doctor in LANAP surgeries and associated post-operative cleaning
Administer Botox for therapeutic (e.g., bruxism) or cosmetic purposes.
Administrative & Team Responsibilities
Collaborate with management to ensure hygiene productivity and scheduling efficiency
Work with the office manager to call patients from the unscheduled hygiene list to fill openings.
Participate in team huddles and training sessions
Maintain bi-weekly supply inventory and submit orders for hygiene and patient education materials
Support a team-oriented, positive work environment.

Education & Credentials
Graduate from an accredited Dental Hygiene Program with an associate’s degree in dental Hygiene
Licensed to practice in the State of Arizona and in good standing
Current CPR certification and local anesthesia certification required
Valid driver’s license
Dental laser certification is preferred
Clinical experience is highly preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA compliance and infection control regulations
Commitment to continuing education and maintaining professional competence
***Laser and BOTOX certification is a plus!
Skills
Proven experience as Dental Hygienist or similar role
In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations in this profession (e.g. HIPAA)
Experience in preparing and maintaining dental equipment
Outstanding communication skills
A patient and friendly personality
Attention to detail
Stamina to meet the physical demands of the job
Diploma in Dental Hygiene
Valid license to practice
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 per hour
