Over 100 different events, featuring a mix of classical, rock, pop, jazz, R&B, indie, and country performers, make up a typical summer season across our open-air and indoor stages, including the annual residency of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.Position Summary:As a Registered Nurse on the First Aid Staff at Ravinia, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and safety of all visitors by delivering educated and compassionate nursing care for all patrons by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patron plan of care. The Nurse will collaborate with members of the Emergency Watch Office, Security team, and other Ravinia Staff to ensure optimal patron outcomes and continuity of care. Your primary responsibility will be to provide immediate medical assistance in case of injuries or health emergencies, thereby contributing to a safe and enjoyable environment for all. Ultimately, your expertise will help foster a culture of care and preparedness, enhancing the visitor experience at Ravinia. This position is primarily within the summer season (early June through mid-September), with sporadic opportunities for off-season hours Key ResponsibilitiesProvide basic first aid needs for all patron populations; pediatric to geriatricIndependently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care for all patrons and staff who seek first aidUtilize the nursing process in planning, implementing and evaluating the patron's first aid plan of careProvide life-saving interventionsActivate Emergency Medical Services (911) if neededRespond to various emergencies on the park groundsDispense Over-the-Counter medications, if appropriateDocument care provided on a computerized systemGuide and direct assigned unlicensed nursing personnel (First Aid Assistants) in delivering patron careCommunicate and collaborate with members of the Emergency Watch Office, Security team, and other Ravinia Staff to ensure optimal patron outcomesPositively contribute to safety outcomes while promoting a high-quality patron experienceHelp maintain medical supplies and equipment, ensuring readiness for emergenciesKnowledge and Skills RequiredCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of IllinoisBasic Life Support (BLS) certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart AssociationCPR and AED certification for the Healthcare ProviderMinimum 1-year current hospital Emergency Department nursing experience OR minimum 1-year School nursing experience preferredExcellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and triageExperience in emergency care and first aidBasic computer and written skillsEducation and Preferred Qualifications:Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification highly recommendedBSN degree preferredExperience in a public health or community health setting.Knowledge of park and recreational health and safety standards.Work EnvironmentRavinia's First Aid Station is located on Ravinia grounds in Highland Park, IL. Nurse hours are typically one half hour to one hour prior to the park opening time until the park is closed and cleared post-event (pavilion and Martin Theatre performance night hours are approximately 4:00 PM - 11:30 PM, times can vary across other venues, for family programming, and unique concert days). BenefitsThis position is eligible for overtime pay when working more than 40 hours in one week. Ravinia's work week begins on Saturday and ends on Friday. This position is paid bi-weekly.
