Position: APRN- Pain Management Department: Pain ManagementReports To: CASODirect Reports: NoneFLSA Classification: ExemptPosition SummaryThe Nurse Practitioner coordinates the planning, implementation and on-going monitoring and evaluation of pain management patients in collaboration with the designated collaborating licensed physician, in the clinical care setting. Responsibilities include examining, diagnosing, treating patient conditions, educating patients including medical and procedural options, prescribing medications and treatments, making appropriate referrals, reviewing radiological images with the patient as provided by a licensed radiologist, assisting in the coordinating continuum of care, and performing other duties to support patients.General Duties, Tasks and ResponsibilitiesManaging a diverse adult population suffering from chronic, post-surgical, or injury related pain.Ordering, interpreting, recording, and reviewing results of clinical tests and collaborating with patient's primary care provider as needed.Prescribing and managing medications, which include scheduled II controlled substances and following policies, formulary and relevant regulations of the State.Making recommendations for other therapeutic forms of treatment, including procedural interventions as appropriate.Oversight and management of treatments including, but not limited to, physical and/or occupational therapies.Conducting comprehensive or episodic health history and physical assessments.Educating patients and families on treatment plans, side effects, prognosis.Managing treatment related symptoms and side effects.Communicates effectively in both the patient chart and orally with the staff in a manner to ensure plan of care can be understood and executed by others as appropriate.Delivers care and treatment as the primary practitioner of the in-person clinic in collaboration with the Pain Management CRNA and collaborating licensed physician to develop plan of care and provide patient education.Completes documentation of office notes, labs and diagnostic testing results with follow up plans, and medication regimens.Following up on test results and communicating with patients in timely manner.Confirming outbound referrals and surgeries.Adheres to the patient's pain treatment agreement in regards to timely follow up.Complies with all established safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.Participates in performance improvement activities.Performs other duties as assigned. Education Requirements Master's Degree in Nursing RequiredCertification/Licensure Requirements Current IL APRN LicensureCurrent IL DEA License RequiredBLS RequiredExperience Pain Management experience Preferred Computer Skills Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate EMR programsAdditional Skills Be compassionate, sensitive, and possess critical thinking skillsAbility to work independently, prioritize and complete tasks in a timely mannerExcellent ability to thrive under pressure and adapt to changes in assignmentStrong communication skills including reading, writing and the ability to listen effectively
