The Supplier Quality Engineer - Technical Advisor utilizes quality and technical expertise to develop highly complex suppliers and products that can meet customer requirements, in addition to technically advising other Supplier Quality professionals; requires strong partnerships with the external supply base, with supply chain teams and with engineering to achieve resultsMaster's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 4 years of experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience as a Quality or Manufacturing Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Automotive quality improvement tools and methods to achieve zero defects performance; Supplier Quality Management; New Product Development and Change Management (VPI, VPCR) processes; Supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing and development processes; Corrective action including fault tree analysis, root cause analysis; Advanced Product Quality Planning process, Product Part Approval Process; Execute breakthrough safe launch strategies; Supplier audit and certification process; Supplier Technical Manufacturing Management; Quality management system standards.Collaborate with the supplier to lead the use of automotive quality improvement tools and methods to achieve zero defects performance. Lead the use of knowledge in manufacturing technology, product definition, and product function to achieve this outcome. Responsible for Supplier Quality's participation in the selection, management, development, problem solving, and assurance of defect-free performance of the direct material supplier chain, especially in the New Product Development and Change Management (VPI, VPCR) processes for critical projects. Lead others in supplier evaluation, selection, and strategic sourcing and development processes within a Supplier Quality category. Accountable for business-critical supplier corrective action opportunities including containment, fault tree analysis, root cause analysis, permanent corrective actions, and overall effectiveness of the problem-solving process. Ensure the Category's suppliers select and use quality tools effectively and are tailored for their specific industry and our products during the Advanced Product Quality Planning process. Lead the process for determining all requirements are met by the supplier for new or changed products, and execute the Production Part Approval Process. Develop and execute initiatives including Early Supplier Engagement, Zero Defects Mentality, and breakthrough safe launch strategies. Identify supplier innovation capabilities, contribute to supplier audit and certification process, track supplier performance metrics, and act to quickly resolve issues to improve supplier quality performance. Coordinate the various technical activities cross-functionally to ensure that the supplier's technical design or manufacturing process can produce the required quality throughout the product definition life cycle. Represent the company to our external direct material supply chain by acting as technical interface for assuring and improving the supplier's ability to manufacture products that meet quality expectations defined by our operations and customers as part of Supplier Technical Manufacturing Management. Guide in the practice and application of quality management system standards required by international certification bodies, industry specific regulatory authorities and customer's contractually specified requirements. Apply dimensional measurement science in the development and application of measurement/inspection processes that deliver capable measurement results, supporting design validation and conformity assessment meeting regulatory, customer and product requirements
