LMI is seeking an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lead to support the General Services Administration (GSA) in delivering advanced AI-enabled capabilities within a modern, web-based acquisitions system. This initiative modernizes Governmentwide Indefinite Delivery Vehicle (IDV) contracting through modular, cloud-based services that improve efficiency, automation, and decision support across the acquisition lifecycle.The AI Lead will serve as the senior authority responsible for defining and implementing the AI technical approach across the program. This individual must possess deep, hands-on expertise in integrating and orchestrating multiple AI agents into a cohesive, autonomous ecosystem and ensure the development team consistently follows that approach. AI capabilities are designed to provide decision support and transparency while preserving human oversight and contracting officer judgment.The ideal candidate combines advanced AI/ML expertise, production-level deployment experience, federal governance knowledge, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in secure, cloud-based environments.This position is anticipated to be majority remote, but with the ability to travel and visit the client's offices in Washington, D.C. as frequently as needed.LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.AI Strategy & Technical LeadershipServe as the primary authority for AI architecture, research, and implementationDefine and oversee the technical approach for integrating and orchestrating multiple AI agents into a unified ecosystemAlign AI initiatives with program objectives and GSA modernization goalsEvaluate emerging AI technologies and guide their responsible applicationApplied AI Delivery & Machine Learning OperationsLead design, development, and deployment of scalable AI/ML models into production environmentsImplement and manage MLOps practices, including model versioning, monitoring, validation, and lifecycle managementIntegrate model development and deployment workflows into CI/CD pipelinesEnsure AI solutions are reliable, performant, and maintainable within enterprise cloud environmentsFederal AI Governance & ComplianceAlign AI implementations with federal IT standards and agency governance requirementsIncorporate guidance from the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) and related cybersecurity standards.Support security documentation and controls required for the Authorization to Operate (ATO) process for cloud-based systemsChampion ethical, transparent, and compliant use of AI and data across the programEnsure data provenance, model transparency, explainability, and auditability to support trust and oversight.Cloud & DevSecOps IntegrationDeploy and manage AI workloads within secure AWS cloud environmentsIntegrate security controls across the AI lifecycle consistent with DevSecOps principlesEnsure AI components adhere to secure coding standards, access controls, and cloud security best practicesCollaborate with team leadership to maintain compliance and audit readinessTeam & Stakeholder CollaborationLead and mentor the team as neededManage complex AI initiatives across multidisciplinary teamsCommunicate AI concepts, risks, and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholdersFoster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and responsible AI adoptionRequired QualificationsDemonstrated experience serving as an AI Lead (or equivalent role) on complex enterprise or federal technology programsAdvanced knowledge of AI, machine learning, deep learning, and data science concepts (Master's or Ph.D. strongly preferred)Proven track record designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions into production environmentsExperience implementing MLOps practices and integrating model deployment into CI/CD pipelinesExperience deploying and managing AI workloads within AWS cloud environmentsStrong understanding of federal IT standards, AI governance, and ATO-related security requirementsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsDesired QualificationsExperience supporting GSA or other federal AI modernization initiativesFamiliarity with multi-agent AI architectures and autonomous workflow orchestrationRelevant certifications in cloud, AI/ML, or security disciplinesExperience implementing AI solutions in highly regulated or compliance-driven environmentsThe target salary range for this position is $148,301-$255,653.The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation. Individual salaries are determined by various factors including, but not limited to location, internal equity, business considerations, client contract requirements, and candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, skills, and security clearances.Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance.
