Welding Engineer

Our client is a leading fabrication and machining source for large scale manufacturing. They are currently seeking a Welding Engineer to be responsible for support and maintenance of their welding program. This will include creating and modify existing processes and procedures.Responsibilities will include:Determine and implement appropriate welding techniques and procedures for a variety of welding applications and qualifications.Plan, support, and execute welding procedure qualifications and welder certifications in compliance with applicable codes (e.g., NAVSEA, ASME) and contract requirements.Actively participate in administrative, production, and cross-functional team meetings to support engineering, manufacturing, and program management.Operate effectively in a manufacturing environment utilizing various arc welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW, SAW, FCAW) to produce quality structural and seal welds.Review welding specifications and ensure strict adherence to fabrication and welding standards.Communicate technical information clearly through written reports and verbal discussions.Provide technical guidance and support to skilled tradespeople and production teams.Uphold company welding standards, procedures, best practices, and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives.Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Manufacturing Engineering, NDT Technicians, Quality Assurance, and management to address welding and fabrication challenges.Resolve welding and material joining issues proactively during pre-production and manufacturing stages.Background profile:Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Welding Engineering Technology, Metallurgy, or Materials Science from an accredited institution preferred. Client will consider others with strong related industry experience and skills.Strong knowledge of arc welding processes including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SAW, and SMAW.Familiarity with ASME codes and requirements are expected, NAVSEA standards beneficial.Experience with a variety of materials including carbon steel, stainless steels, high/low alloy steels, nickel alloys, and dissimilar metal welding.Solid understanding of welding metallurgy principles and a background in industrial welding environments such as shipbuilding or heavy fabrication desired.Strong teamwork and independent work capabilities.Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.
