Director, Quality - SATCOM Manufacturing
The Director of Quality provides strategic and hands-on leadership for Quality programs and EH&S reporting across a multi-site Texas SATCOM manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for ensuring product reliability, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and workplace safety. The Director owns the Quality Management System, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) process, customer quality performance, and environmental health and safety compliance while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This position operates in a lean organization and requires a highly engaged leader capable of partnering cross-functionally with operations, engineering, supply chain, and executive leadership.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
Quality Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute multi-site quality strategy aligned with corporate objectives
Lead and mentor a lean Quality organization
Establish quality KPIs and performance reporting
Maintain and improve ISO 9001 Quality Management System
Provide quality input to proposals and customer requirements
Manage departmental staffing, budgets, and capital planning
Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA)
Serve as executive owner of RCCA across the organization
Lead investigations for customer complaints, field failures, and nonconformances
Implement structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, 5-Why, Fishbone)
Drive containment, corrective action, and effectiveness verification
Track metrics including closure time, recurrence, and systemic improvements
Customer Quality Leadership
Act as senior quality interface to commercial and government customers
Lead customer audits and quality reviews
Manage corrective action responses and audit findings
Represent organization during inspections and source audits
Operational Quality Excellence
Drive improvements in First Pass Yield, Cost of Quality, and reliability
Reduce NCRs and recurring defects
Lead MRB activities and disposition processes
Implement quality gates and defect prevention controls
Quality System Governance
Maintain ISO 9001 compliance and customer quality requirements
Oversee internal and external audits
Ensure configuration control and document control integrity
Environmental Health & Safety Leadership
Lead EH&S programs across multiple facilities
Ensure OSHA and environmental regulatory compliance
Drive safety culture and risk reduction initiatives
Lead incident investigations and corrective actions
Monitor and improve safety performance metrics
Operational Excellence
Partner with operations to improve yield and product performance
Lead continuous improvement initiatives
Support Lean Manufacturing deployment
YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field
12-15+ years of manufacturing quality experience
5+ years leading quality organizations
Experience in aerospace, defense, electronics, or high-reliability manufacturing preferred
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
Expertise in Root Cause Corrective Action leadership
Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
Knowledge of IPC and J-STD standards
Strong customer-facing leadership experience
Multi-site manufacturing quality leadership experience
Knowledge of FAR, DFAR, and government contract requirements
Experience with configuration control and supplier quality flow-down
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be able to travel up to 20% between Texas locations.
Preferred Qualifications
ASQ Certification (CQE, CMQ/OE, etc.)
Experience leading both Quality and EH&S functions
Experience supporting government contracts
Ability to review customer quality clauses
Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)
