Title: Mechanical AssemblerLocation: Elgin, IL 60123Hire Type: Direct HireShift: 1st Shift (assumed; adjust if needed)Compensation: $50-55K + OTMust have Skill Set: 5+ years of mechanical assembly or fabrication experience, ability to read and interpret engineering prints and layouts, and strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on tool experience.Overview:The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for building, assembling, and installing equipment using work orders, engineering prints, and material lists. This role includes in-house fabrication and up to 20% travel to customer sites for installation, troubleshooting, and modifications. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced in mechanical systems, with exposure to electrical and pneumatic components.Job Duties:Plan and execute assembly operations; verify accuracy of pre-picked partsBuild sub-assemblies: layout, measure, drill, tap, deburr, and polish componentsPull hardware per specifications and complete mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic connectionsAssemble and mount components to final machines, including seals, gaskets, and conduitMeasure, cut, thread, and install conduit as requiredTroubleshoot equipment issues; disassemble, repair, or replace defective parts and machine new components as neededModify existing equipment using hand tools, power tools, and shop machinery (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.)Interpret and mark up prints; complete daily production reports and escalate issuesTravel independently to customer sites (up to 20%) for installation, service, and modificationsOperate equipment such as forklifts, hoists, pipe threaders, and fabrication machineryMaintain a clean and safe work environment; follow all safety protocolsAssist with general facility tasks and lift up to 50 lbs regularlyQualifications:5+ years of experience in assembly, fabrication, or related fieldAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and layoutsExperience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipmentComfortable working at heights (ladders, lifts)Must supply own basic tool set (standard/metric tools, wrenches, sockets, etc.)Stainless steel welding experience preferredElectrical assembly or electrician background is a plusQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or genetic information.
