Accounts Payable Specialist (Interim)

We are seeking an Interim Accounts Payable Specialist to support a high-volume backlog cleanup effort within a fast-paced construction-focused environment. This role is centered on execution - processing, reconciling, and resolving discrepancies across a large volume of invoices.The goal is to bring accounts current while maintaining accuracy and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesProcess high-volume invoices (hundreds to thousands weekly)Perform two-way matching (PO to invoice), with future transition to three-way matchingReconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepanciesInvestigate and resolve invoice mismatches (pricing, quantities, missing POs)Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to clear outstanding itemsApply accurate job cost coding and project allocationsAssist in cleaning up aged A/P balances and backlog itemsMaintain accurate and organized documentation in a construction-focused environmentWhat Success Looks LikeSignificant reduction in A/P backlog and aging balancesInvoices processed accurately and efficientlyVendor discrepancies resolved with minimal escalationImproved flow of approvals and reduced bottlenecksQualificationsRelevant Accounts Payable experience, ideally within construction or manufacturingStrong experience with PO-based invoicing and matching processesExperience reconciling vendor accounts and resolving discrepanciesFamiliarity with job cost coding and project-based accounting environmentsExperience with Vista Viewpoint or similar ERP systems preferredStrong attention to detail and ability to manage high-volume workloadsWhy This RoleIf you enjoy rolling up your sleeves, working through high-volume challenges, and bringing current a backlog, this is a strong opportunity to make an immediate and measurable impact.BrainWorks specializes in providing exceptional Interim talent to help businesses navigate critical challenges, maintain continuity, and achieve their goals.
