Senior Software Engineer, Native Editor Platform Remote, Washington, USA, Full-timeThe opportunity The Unity Editor Platform Team is looking for an experienced software engineer with an excellent working knowledge of modern C++ and desktop platform APIs to join our team of seasoned developers.Our team focus is to provide the native foundation of the Unity Editor application across Windows, macOS and Linux. A successful developer in this role will have proven modern C++ development experience, as well as experience in at least one native platform API from Win32, Cocoa or GTK. The team's goal is to provide abstractions to C# features that behave consistently across platforms while making use of the strengths of the editor user's chosen platform.What you'll be doingCollaborating daily with a team of senior engineers with extensive platform development experienceFrom design to delivery, develop cross-platform API abstractions on Windows, macOS and Linux with a focus on native codeKeep the Unity Editor up to date on target operating systems by implementing support for new OS features and adapting to current OS design guidelinesSupport our existing users and partners by maintaining and improving our existing codebaseContribute to our team roadmap by working with Product Managers and partner teams worldwide to plan and deliver new authoring experiences for the Unity EditorWhat we're looking forProven modern C++ development skillsExperience with Win32, Cocoa (Objective‐C) or GTKThe proven ability to foster and maintain cross‐team partnerships with worldwide teamsNative debugger experience to root‐cause and solve difficult platform issuesA passion for maintaining a rock‐solid foundation while also moving the Unity Editor platform forwardSufficient knowledge of English to conduct professional verbal and written exchangesYou might also haveC# development experiencePostmortem debugging experience (Windows dump files, macOS/Linux core dumps)Refactoring legacy codebasesExperience working with and authoring Docker container imagesAdditional informationRelocation support is not available for this positionWork visa/immigration sponsorship is not available for this positionBenefits At Unity, we want our team members to thrive.
