We encourage applicants from underrepresented groups (e.g. race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, etc.) that will contribute to the enrichment of ideas and perspectives and best support those we serve.Job DescriptionWhat you will do:Utilize a variety of research-based intervention strategies, continually assessing student response to intervention and make modifications as needed to ensure all children are successfulAct as a case coordinator by preparing for, participating in, and ensuring IEP implementation according to the school processAbility to align student goals and objectives with district and state standardsCompetent using a variety of technology applications related to both classroom management and the instructional processProvide opportunities for students to develop employability skills and work-related behaviorsManage and instruct students on appropriate behavior using positive behavior support strategies consistent with Board policy and proceduresComply with Medicaid billing proceduresManage a safe, comfortable learning environmentAssist students in meeting self-help, health and behavior needs including toileting and personal care needsMaintain accurate and timely records, including collecting and recording data relative to student performance on individual goals and objectivesConduct required formal and informal evaluations to measure students' progressComply with state and district policy on the use of seclusion and restraintMaintain confidentiality at all timesMaintain effective communication and relationships with students, parents, administrators, school personnel and agency representativesComply with all Michigan and Federal Special Education law/requirementsFollows established policies/procedures regarding student medical concerns, safety, student rights, emergency/disaster plans, etc.Effectively participate in meetings, committees, staffing and other required district and building activities.Develop a schedule to maximize instructional time and lesson plans reflecting student goalsProvide home based activities, when appropriateEvaluate and order instructional materials needed to provide quality programmingPromote self-advocacy with secondary students through involvement in the IEP/ITP processDirect paraprofessionals assigned to program or specific studentParticipate in professional development opportunitiesSupport school improvement plansRegular and predictable attendanceOther duties as assigned by the supervisorUnder the general supervision of the Supervisor of Autism ProgramsNeed To HaveBachelor's Degree requiredValid Michigan teaching certificate with approval to teach cognitively impaired, emotionally impaired, or autistic impaired students What We OfferCompetitive wagesHealth Insurance planDental, vision and life insuranceLong-term disabilityPaid leave timeRetirement benefitsTuition reimbursementDistrict-supported professional developmentWorking ConditionsWorks in a school and/or office environment.
