Accounts Payable Specialist

Accounts Payable Specialist Forterra is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist to join our finance team. This role is responsible for managing the full-cycle accounts payable process, with a strong emphasis on employee travel and expense (T&E) reports and corporate credit card transactions. The ideal candidate will ensure accurate, timely processing of payments while maintaining strict compliance with company policies, internal controls, and audit requirements. A strong focus on documentation, transparency, and audit readiness is essential.What you'll do:Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding, approval, and timely paymentManage employee travel and expense (T&E) reports, including detailed review, validation, and reimbursementReconcile corporate credit card transactions and ensure all expenses are properly documented and policy compliantMaintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready records for all AP and T&E transactionsEnsure adherence to internal controls and company expense policies; identify and escalate non-compliant transactionsPrepare and organize supporting documentation for internal and external auditsAssist auditors by providing requested reports, reconciliations, and transaction-level supportMaintain clear audit trails for all transactions, including approvals and supporting receiptsSupport month-end close activities, including accruals, account reconciliations, and variance explanationsRespond to vendor and employee inquiries regarding payments, expenses, and policiesQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)13 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferredExperience with T&E systems (e.g., Concur, Expensify) is a plusProficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systemsStrong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and complianceSolid understanding of internal controls and audit processesAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesPreferred Qualifications:Experience supporting internal or external auditsFamiliarity with corporate credit card programs and reconciliation processesKnowledge of SOX compliance or similar regulatory frameworksExperience in a fast-paced or high-volume processing environmentEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)US Salary Range $70,000.00- $80,000.00The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more.
