SummaryDesign Group is leading the Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) scope for a AI-driven data centers located in the Abilene and Haskell, TX area. Design Group has been contracted to deliver the I&C scope for the Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS). Our responsibilities encompass engineering, procurement, system integration, on-site checkout, and commissioning of instrumentation and control elements supporting critical infrastructure, including chillers, air handling units, fan coil arrays, power distribution centers, transformers, UPS systems, and feeder protection. The EPMS scope also includes system visualization, monitoring, alarming, and integration of critical electrical infrastructure.ResponsibilitiesOur Controls Engineer role is expected to include the following responsibilities:Ensure the successful deployment of multiple greenfield data centers; scopes will include both BMS and EPMSReceive the applications from the design team and deploy them to each sitePoint to Point check out of thousands of devicesConfiguration of communication protocols for multiple types of equipment including switchgear, breakers, etc.Configuration and calibration of instruments (meters, VFD’s, flow meters, etc.)Deployment and commissioning of Ignition applicationsProvide guidance/leadership to Design Group subcontractors (electricians) onsiteCareer Growth OpportunitiesThe Controls Engineer is a key role for the Firm and successful execution of the role will afford the following growth opportunities:Become a key contributor on one of the fastest growing accounts at Design GroupBecome an SME in a major new market verticalClear opportunities for promotion based on personal and account performanceGrow new technical skills with cutting edge technologyGrow your own skills in leading a large client in a new verticalRequired Qualifications/Expectations:Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience5 + years of experience starting up control systems with significant onsite time.Ability to spend significant time onsite 75%Most be open to travel 100% or open to relocate close to site (relocation assistance offered)Strong communicator and ability/desire to work within large teamsExperience with BMS and EPMS commissioning is highly preferred.
