Database Administrator
Overview
In this contract IT role, you will design, implement and maintain SQL Server databases while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business objectives. You will provide 24x7 on-call support, troubleshoot and tune performance, and drive database-related projects. You’ll handle backups, monitoring, and maintenance tasks, and build documentation for users and other DBAs. This position offers hands-on work with a broad SQL ecosystem and a chance to contribute to reliable, scalable data infrastructure.
ResponsibilitiesPlan, design, build, deploy and maintain SQL Server databasesProvide 24x7 on-call support as part of a team rotationTroubleshoot applications, databases and systemsTune performance for databases and applicationsSupport database-related projectsInstall and upgrade SQL Server and third-party toolsPerform basic database administration (backup, recovery, monitoring, management)Develop documentation for DBAs, developers, and end-usersBuild and maintain SQL Server maintenance plans and optimization jobsManage SQL Server jobs and schedules
Key requirementsOne+ years of experience installing, configuring and managing SQL Server databasesIn-depth knowledge of Windows operating systemUnderstanding of relational database designSQL Server ClusterSQL Server ReplicationSQL 2008/2012SQL utilities such as BCP, DTS and SSIST-SQL and knowledge of stored procedures, UDFs and triggersMonitoring and tuning tools such as Windows Performance Monitor, Profiler and Tuning AdvisorShell scripting (Powershell, Windows batch files)Experience with 3rd party monitoring tools like Confio IgniteData and Process ModelingSome Oracle administration experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceGood written and verbal communication skillsGood troubleshooting skillsSQL Server databases (2008, 2012)SQL Server ClusterSQL Server ReplicationBCP, DTS, SSIS
