FW Walton, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Job Cost Accountant to support our roofing construction operations. This role is responsible for managing daily accounting functions while ensuring accurate job cost tracking, project financial reporting, and cost control. The position works closely with project managers, operations, and leadership to monitor job profitability and maintain accurate financial records.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Set up and maintain job cost codes for roofing projects
Track and analyze job costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and overhead
Monitor project budgets and compare estimated costs to actual costs
Prepare and review job cost reports, margin analysis, and variance reports
Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and project close-outs
Review job cost entries for accuracy and proper coding
Work with project managers to resolve cost discrepancies and improve cost controls
Support month-end close related to job costing and project reporting
GENERAL ACCOUNTING
Perform accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
Enter and code vendor invoices, subcontractor bills, and job-related expenses
Generate customer invoices and apply customer payments
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts
Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
Assist with payroll processing and allocate labor costs to jobs
Ensure expenses are coded correctly to jobs, departments, and accounts
Support audits and internal reviews by providing financial and job cost documentation
QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of experience in construction accounting, job costing, or bookkeeping
Strong understanding of construction job costing and general accounting principles
Experience with accounting and job cost software
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets, formulas, basic reporting)
High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Clear communication with project managers and leadership
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience with Sage Paperless, TimberScan, or similar document management tools.
Experience in roofing or construction industry
Familiarity with WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accounting
WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical work schedule is Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with flexibility as needed.
