This position involves general and specialized police work, including law enforcement, crime prevention, and community services.The duties of a Police Officer include patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls for service, securing crime scenes, making arrests, preparing reports, enforcing laws, investigating criminal activity, and performing various other duties as assigned.The Police Officer should possess knowledge of law enforcement protocols, maintenance of law enforcement tools, criminal justice principles, and modern police work methods. Skills include the use of handguns, evidence collection, communication, decision-making, physical vigor, and maintaining composure in stressful situations.Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, certification as a police officer, active Florida law enforcement certification, a valid Florida driver's license, and the ability to complete a pre-employment process. Special driving and other requirements include a clean driving record, no convictions involving domestic abuse or violence, and no recent illegal drug use.Physical requirements involve standing, sitting, lifting, walking, running, and working in various environmental conditions.
